I agree with Lawyer on the McLaren Recommendation. Although I prefer the Corvette, I do have the McLaren and it is a fun car to drive. One thing to note though is that you will still need another car if you plan to move up to A class. The McLaren isn't used for any current series in B class right now, but the Corvette is used in both the C class GT Challenge series and the B class Prototype & GT Challenge series. Just something to think about, not trying to pressure you or anything. And remember that getting an A class road license only opens up the F1 series and I haven't even thought about trying that yet. I have a feeling only the super serious big boys play in that series and I am definitely not at that level. Yeah, my road A license has been used for a grand total of one race. I tried that Williams F1 race at Silverstone and got lapped by the leaders six times, THAT IS RIGHT, SIX TIMES! I went into the race thinking I was pretty hot shit with my T500 F1 rim and F1 2011 season 1 under my belt. I quickly learned that the iRacing F1 guys are faster than the real life F1 guys.

That is the only Road race series in A class.
There is another advantage to having an A class license though. Demotions.
Just as you can be promoted in iRacing, you can also be demoted. There are 2 ways to be demoted.
1. Fast Track: Any time your SR falls below 1.00, you will be immediately demoted to the next lower class.
2. End of Season: At the end of the season when they do the end of season promotions, they also do demotions. If your SR is between 1.00 and 1.99 at the end of season, you will be demoted to the next lower class. (this does not apply to A class licenses).
This is the one other advantage of an A class license. As long as your SR stays above 1.00 you cannot be demoted. For C and B class you must keep it above 2.00 to avoid end of season demotions.
D class licenses never get demoted, once you get out of rookie, you never go back. I don't know what would happen if a D class license had an SR of 0.00 though. Maybe they would just disappear, which would probably be a good thing anyway with an SR that low.

Good points Jarhead. I did not know a lot of that.
I also would add that there is some swack that goes along with the A license. You see blue stripes on the rear of A license drivers and there is some extra respect that goes along with that.

Good points Jarhead. I did not know a lot of that. What, you didn't read the sporting code? It's all there for everyone to see. Required reading for everyone who uses iRacing too. I also would add that there is some swack that goes along with the A license. You see blue stripes on the rear of A license drivers and there is some extra respect that goes along with that. You would at least hope for some respect. I know I give it. Whenever racing in the lower classes, especially the Mazda Cup, I am always looking at the bumper stripes before I attempt a pass. If I see a red stripe (rookie), I will be very careful because you never know what they will do. If I see a blue stripe (A), I'm fairly confident that if I get the run and make the clean pass, that they won't fight it.

I am a lawyer, after all, and surprisingly, the lawyer who wrote the sporting code for iRacing did it in simple to understand language. But, if I recall correctly its 30-40 pages long and I simply cannot memorize every line of it.

I did read all of it and can't remember most of it, but the part about promotions and demotions seemed very relevant, so I made sure I understood it very well so I have no surprises.
One friend of mine, and I use that term loosely as he is really a friend of Anthony's and I have never raced him, just got a big surprise. He had an A class Oval license and was hovering in the low 1 SR range. Then he had a race near the end of the season which pushed it below 1.00 and got fast track demoted to B class. When you get demoted, your SR changes just the opposite of promotions and goes up by 1 whole number, which left him at B 1.45. Then the end of season came and he hadn't got his SR above 2.00 so he got demoted again and is now C class 2.45. He got demoted twice in less than a week.

You have just taken it to a new level there. My wife made me agree that I would not wear the iRacing gear in public. I readily agreed, since I intended to only wear it around the house anyway, particularly on race days.

I intended to only wear it around the house anyway, particularly on race days. You need to do a test for us then. First do some laps without wearing the iRacing shirt, then put the shirt on and do some more laps and let us know how many seconds it took off your lap time.
