Date: February 10, 2013 Time: 8:30am PST Car: Spec Racer Ford (aka "SRF") (included in base package) Track: Okayama (included in base package) Warm Up: 20 minutes Qualifying: 10 minutes, 4 laps Race: 30 minutes Tune: Open (not fixed). Helios has developed a quality tune for those of us that cannot tune a car. You can use his, or develop your own or just use the iRacing tune. He has posted it a couple of times, his post regarding it is referenced below and I also posted it in a response as part of this thread. Keep in mind that we will have to start on time, since there is no way I can change the start times once we are in the sim. You can be late for warm up and can come and go as you please. I don't know whether you can come in once qualifying begins so don't risk it. There will be unlimited Fast Repairs, so no one is left completely in the dust due to a mistake. Since you all seem to be road purists, this will be a standing start. Please note that the SRF is our car of choice for the foreseeable future for our Sunday road course series, with us only changing the tracks for each event, ala V8 Supercars. My attitude about the SRF has changed dramatically in the last few days, primarily thanks to Helios' tune, which has caused me to believe in the car as something more than a spin happy mess. I plan to host some practice sessions between now and February 10. I will let you guys know ahead of time. Maybe you can do something with at least one part of it base? That combo may cause people to have to buy both the car and the track. Just a thought.

I checked the content thread and my perception is that a lot of folks with oval content have the National car, hence why I chose it. The street stock car that comes with the base package is not nearly as much fun as the other NASCAR cars, particularly at big tracks.

This is the Road thread Duh, I am such a dumbshit. Good point. The problem is that we have exhausted the good road content. We have run the Charlotte road course a couple of times and we just did Laguna Seca. How about if we do the McLaren on the Daytona road course???

How about Okayama Full. Fun track. Base content. Remember, not everyone has been around since day one.

I personally don't see any issues running tracks over, as it'll likely help keep car counts higher.
But ultimately it's your call. If I have it, I'll try to be there.

I was so wrong about that car. He tuned the tail happiness out of it. I would love to run that car for our road series for a while. Obayama Full is perfect with it. Thoughts? FYI it's O kayama. I keep thinking you're making some sort of Obama joke when I read this thread.

That sounds like a good combo since both car and track are base items. I will definitely need that tune though. The one time I tried the Ford Spec Racer, I could not keep it pointed straight.

Sounds like Okayama (I prefer my spelling, Obayama, but oh well) is the track of choice for February 10. I will update my original post. Let the practice and trash talking begin!!!!
