I'm not surprised to hear that the New Gen6 races are reckfests. Most of us hardly have any time with the car. They will get better.
Then again, Phoenix is typically an ugly race regardless. ;-)

Rough night last night. I finally got around to qualifying for the A class fixed series at Phoenix and my time was only .5 below the fastest guys in my split. So, I decided to keep my starting spot rather than start in the pits. Well, that was a mistake. I got rammed into the wall on the last turn around lap 8. I was on the far right of the track. The inside car, #16, thought that the entire track was his and so as he came out of the turn he got on the gas early and went right up into me. OK, fair enough, wrecks happen, but then he had the temerity to blame me for it! Here is the text from his PM to me:
I watched the replay from numerous angles, you were hard on the gas trying to beat me off the corner, got sideways and came into me as I was still coming up off the corner, turned me sideways in front of you. Stop crying about it, it happened. Want a refund? Msg iRacing, not me, ya big baby. Either that, learn to drive without hitting walls and other cars.
LOL! His version of events is garbage. To make matters worse, I got wrecked again later in a massive pile up. I ended up taking a .66 SR hit which put me at 3.57. So glad I worked up the SR last week. I anticipate getting it back up over the next few weeks since we have several SR friendly tracks coming up. I then did a Class B fixed race. Lots of cautions. I got taken out pretty early by a guy that spun after trying to start in 1st gear (LOL!!!) and just did what I could to mitigate the SR and iRating hit. I took a .05 hit, which was pretty good considering.
All in all, it was a disappointing night but as hoser noted, Phoenix is an ugly track and so incidents are to be expected. Tonight I plan to spend some time in the Camping World truck at Dover. My first race there earlier this week was awesome. I also enjoyed doing it last Saturday with the NW Club guys. I also need to get more practice in with the A Sprint Cup car, since the NASCAR iRacing series starts next week.

I tried races in both A and B at Phoenix earlier this week also. I didn't have as bad of time as you had, but I lost a lot of iRating in both. I ran the truck at Dover the other night and really had a lot of fun with it. I lost a little iRating, but had a clean race and decent SR bump. Try to take care of your tires. The race I was in had no cautions and near the end I was gaining on almost everyone because they had burned up their tires.

Yeah, I had good luck with my first Class B Fixed at Phoenix, we went green to green. I got a top ten finish and an SR bump. I did notice that my tires were completely burned up by the end of the race, though. My spotter was on my case the last couple of laps.

I had some good races last couple of days.
Got a bunch of races in the fixed trucks at Atlanta. On one of them I had the pole, led a bunch of laps and ended up second. The race went green from start to finish and the lead pack of 4 which I was in swapped places many times and stayed clean even when 3 wide in the corners.
Had a couple of good races in the fixed IndyCars at Phoenix. 1st one was terrible, I got taken out about 10 laps in. Second one I started 2nd and finished 2nd. Was running 4th for a while when 2 and 3 got together and I just missed the carnage. Did one more today started 7th and finished 3rd. Really should have had 4th, but the leader lost connection with 3 laps to go. Hadn't blinked the whole race, then suddenly disappeared and never came back. I'm sure he was pissed. It was a hard fought battle. I barely missed a wreck which happened right in front of me.
One more good race in the Grand Am Sports Car Series. Started 5th and finished 2nd. Series is at Laguna this week. I used the McLaren. Lots of people have problems with this track. I had a couple of off tracks, but never lost control or hit anything. I picked up a couple of places by attrition and a couple more by being faster. I really like the series. The Riley Daytona Prototype is definitely faster, but not so much that they run you over. Their main strength is the cornering speed, they have a hard time catching the McLarens on the straights. The races are mostly clean also.

I have had a great week of oval racing so far. I have done four official races, two Class C Camping World truck races (one fixed set up, one open), and two Class A Fixed Sprint Cup. I did well in the truck races, even though I went down early in one of them, the open set up 70 lapper at Atlanta. To avoid a dumbshit driver, I had to go into the infield and I got busted for speeding in the pits and one other black flag offense. I went three laps down, but was able to scratch and claw back to the lead lap by lap 60 or so. I ended up finishing 6th, which was totally awesome. The Class A fixed races at Las Vegas have been tough with regard to placement, those guys are just so fast, even in the bottom splits!!! But, the races have been relatively clean. I feel ready for the NASCAR iRacing series race tomorrow at Vegas, where I likely will face weaker competition, since we are grouped by iRating, and its open to D to A license levels.

I am off to a good start this weekend. I just won a Cadillac Cup race with an 11 racer field, including an A class license with a 3500 iRating. Woohoo!!!!

The good luck continues. I just won a Class C Fixed truck race. I was in the top 5 most of the race and then on the last lap the top 2 trucks took each other out, giving me the opportunity to get the win. I will take it and the 97 point iRating bump!!!! That will help me going into tomorrow mornings iRacing NASCAR race, since it bumps my iRating up to 1291. I should get a half decent split.

Had 3 terrible races in the truck last night. Got taken out in all 3 races and lost over 100 iRating and a bunch of SR. Got one more race in today before work. Not great, but at least I didn't lose anything. I was #16 in the top split of 20. I was 8th on the grid to start and finished 10th. Gained 25 iRating and some needed SR.
I hope my iRating is high enough to put me in the top split in the IndyCar race tonight at 10:00. I really need some championship points to regain the #1 position in my division I had coming into this week. I have a good qual time so I should be high up on the grid. I will try one more time to qual at 9:45. I currently have a 29.330 qual lap. I ran a 29.267 in practice, but it's really hard to duplicate. You have to hit corners 3 and 4 absolutely perfect to get it.

Yeah, the truck races are hit and miss this week. Its a good track, Iowa Speedway, but it seems like guys are pushing too hard. I had a race last night with way too many cautions that arose primarily out of stupidity. We had 5-10 green laps at most, out of 45 laps!!! I did not get caught up in any wrecks, but had some near misses.
I have done two official races at Bristol. The first was in the A fixed series and I got wrecked out of it about 70 laps in. But, lots of other guys wrecked as well and so I was able to salvage some iRating out of it. The second was last night's Class B fixed. I got hit early and so I had to drive handicapped the rest of the race. I finished about 78 laps out of 85. Again, because it was a wreckfest, I did gain some iRating.
Tomorrow morning I have the NASCAR iRacing series, 250 laps at Bristol with the A class Gen6 car. LOL! It should be interesting.

Just had 2 great races in the IndyCar. Got home in time for the 10:00 race. There was 32 registered so I had high hopes to be in the 1st split. I missed it by a lot. Even if I hadn't lost all the iRating last night, I still wouldn't have made it. So I made the best of it. I was on the pole by over 3 tenths and the race was never even close. I kept pulling away from everyone. There were a few cautions, but I always got a good restart. I won the race by 1.7 seconds and these races are usually won by hundredths or thousandths of a second. Best part about it was the +70 to my iRating.
The iRating gain from the first race was just barely enough to put me in the top split for the 2nd race at midnight. 30 cars registered and I was #15 of 15 in the first split. Those guys are fast, but I was still qualified 3rd. I held that position the entire race. I couldn't keep up with 1st and 2nd, but I was able to keep everyone else behind me. Motegi is a very tricky track. Turns 1 and 2 you can go flat out, but 3 and 4 you need to slow way down for. I have learned the fastest way around the track for me is to brake hard going into 3, downshift to 3rd, and hit the apex halfway through 4 as you are getting back on the throttle hard. After the race, one of the guys behind me said I was blocking and brake checking going into turn 3. He said you shouldn't even brake going into turn 3, just downshift. So I asked the rest of the room who else brakes going into turn 3 and both 1st and 2nd place drivers both said they also brake into turn 3 along with a bunch of other drivers. I've been told by other fast guys that you can be fast braking and not braking, it just depends what you are comfortable with. So I don't care what that whiner says, I was turning fast laps by braking, in fact his and my fastest laps were within .001 of each other and he had a draft advantage which I didn't. Best thing about the race was the Championship points available. I will gladly take 3rd in that split, it netted me 133 championship points and +91 to my iRating. I am back in first place in my division for the championship.

I had a surprisingly good run in the second race of the NASCAR iRacing series this morning at Bristol. Its a 250 lap race and I expected total carnage. I got caught up in a wreck early, but it only caused a couple of minutes of optional damage. I was able to stay out of serious trouble and I ended up getting 5th out of 30 cars. It was good fun, amazingly!!!! It must be the new cockpit. LOL!

That's awesome Craig. You gotta be proud about 5th place in that race. 250 laps at Bristol is insane.
I got another win in the IndyCar at Motegi last night. It wasn't the best way to win, but I will take it. I started 3rd on a grid of 24. Only 1 split. Stayed in top 5 whole race. The 2 leaders took each other out about 1/3 way through the race.
About 20 laps to go we were on a long green flag run. I was running 4th with 2nd and 3rd fighting hard right in front of me. They both went wide and I got by to take 2nd. Caution came out on lap 42 of 50. We went green with 2 to go. Leader spun on restart and hit the wall. I took the lead and finished under caution.
