Anyone tried the new Nvidia driver release? I'm gunshy after the last beta driver killed rFactor. One of you guys can try it first!

If It Ain't Broke, Don't Fix It.
I wont get it until something goes wrong with the ones I have. Sorry, no ginny pig here.

I installed the new driver. It works fine. No problems whatsoever.

Thanks to those who mentioned that in a posting elsewhere... Fraps is a great program, but if you are just using it to check frame rates, that function is built into the game. Simple click Ctrl F while you are in car.

You have to pay to get jpeg format screen shots, but its worth it.

Crazy... I can't launch rFactor with this new driver. I just get a black screen lockup. If I roll back to the older drivers all is fine.

I will try this, but I am nervous about losing my 5760 X 1080 triple screen performance. I guess I should set a good restore point, in case I cannot get 5760 X 1080 to work with the new driver. I also could try doing the upgrade install, which does not delete current settings. I definitely am interested in better SLI performance in both rFactor 2 and Mass Effect 3, both of which I am playing right now.

If it were anyone else, I'd recommend trying the driver. You? I don't want that responsibility if you get stuck at a low res again. I'll be testing it tonight. The rF2 and Skyrim improvements are worthit to me. The last release (both beta and WHQL) worked in all games except rFactor where the game would lock up while launching. I think I need to look into that further because it's weird that it's just rF.

All of my PC sim racers are working fine in triple screen surround mode, including iRacing, rFactor, rFactor 2, Project CARS and Richard Burns Rally. Its not worth the risk.

I just installed the latest nVidia driver 296.10 Seems to work fine. I feel it took at least 10% time off my rFactor laps, well maybe not 10%, but the speed is there I can tell, just need to work on it Also rFactor2, pCARS and iRacing all are working ok on my system with this new driver. Not sure what the purpose of those other games you mentioned is... I have Skyrim but have been too busy to install for several months and I was going to get Mass Effect 3 this past weekend but I forgot But I can guarantee Diablo 3 will be on my system when it comes out next month (hope, hope, hope ) PS. Racer V8-RS is an absolute blast on the new Hockenheim track in pCARS

OK, I can't recommend these. For my system at least any full screen game locks up the PC. I had to roll back to 285.65.
There are a few others with the same complaint on Nvidia forums. It could be a quirk of my older cards (GTX 275)... who knows. :\

So... the new beta drivers that just came out are very good. The previous two WHQL releases would black-screen my PC when I ran any full-screen game. This one is perfect. I haven't checked FPS and I need to tweak AA, etc but I ran them for nearly 2 hours straight last night during IROC w/o issues. I did notice my cards running slightly hotter so I bumped up the auto fan speed curve as a preventative measure. That could be just a GTX 275 thing. www.geforce.com/whats-new/articles/nvidia-geforce-301.24-beta-drivers-released/Biggest change for me is a little one... apps now can maximize to the monitor not the whole Surround desktop and I can have the taskbar on the centre monitor only. Woo!

I am using the latest beta drivers and they seem to work with no problems. Unless they are the cause of pCARS locking up but for now I am still blaming that one on the wheel ... Yes, I had noticed the taskbar on the centre screen now which is nice. But I had gotten so used to twisting my head to the left I have to untrain myself Also I had not realized apps will now max to the monitor instead of the whole virtual screen! That could be the biggest payoff from these new drivers
