My system is much simpler than Dales, but then again I may just be simple minded. I learn the track first, then think back to past races and determine which track is similar, then load that tune. Then I tweak it to my liking. I have no issue sharing a tune and many of you have tried them. They are not magical and hell, some of you can't stand them. It's about learning the car and figuring out a driving style that best suites you. I've tried running Stinky and Helios's tunes and have a heck of a time keeping it on the track. With these cars, low ride heights, softer springs, and low or detached RARB works best for my style. If guys take the time to practice and I'm online, I am always willing to throw my tune out there for others to try.

wow! F1 you put a lot of thought into that lol!!! i'll try not to add to much more to that. tuning a car is kinda of a work of art. but with that being said. you get out of the car, what you put into it. if you show up on race. night and ask for a setup? then your chances are not going to be that good. 1. you didn't due your home work or 2. you just missed your mark by a mile.
i for one have always handed out my setups. you may see me send out 3-4 versions before the race. and they are always. the setup i'm racing. fine tuning. the day of a race is normal. i may show up and still be off pace . only because i start chasing people. and that is normal the faster you get, small tweaks are made. and i for one have always. throw setups out there since day one. and this is why.i do this! people are always learning. there's always a new guy in the the group. that's up to his eye balls in data. and its over welming at first. but on the other hand. to see someone. take your setup and run it in to victory lane... is also rewarding. Thats your victory as well! and at that point a "thank you" is inspiring to make better cars and drive harder....
one last thing if your new or old. when your on the server ask people for there setups. ask drivers for there setup...it dosent hurt to try. build that data base setups. if you have everything you can get your hands on. then that's a pretty good start. most of time people will hand them out and tell you ware they can from. Keep them all. drivers add little changes. and that might work to your favor.

I do NOT tune. I tinker.. Basically I can't take a stock tune and make it work for me. But I've begged tunes from most people here and have settled on three peoples tunes I can normally drive with slight changes depending on the track. And looking at the setups and what they have done to them, and what they feel like on the track. I've started getting an idea of what to do for certain problems. So don't stick with something that dose not work, Hit people up for their tunes and look at what they have done to them and you'll start to get an idea about how to tune. And always thank the tuner when you do good with their work, especially if you beat them.

I am a "pack" guy and am cool keeping it that way. I like ovals better than road courses and so I do not spend the time to learn a V8 Supercars track well enough to be top 5. Rather, I practice enough so that I won't ruin anyone else's race (except Helios' race ). I am very content competing for a top 10 finish and having fun with you guys. Also, as to tunes, I cannot tune but I have never had trouble mooching off you guys. I personally do mostly fixed tune series in iRacing, but I don't see the big need here. Alright, little late to the party, hope no one minds.
I see the schedule hasn't been posted yet. I haven't scrolled through this whole thread, but I'm hoping like hell Round 1 is on or after April 30th? If not, I may miss some of the opening rounds to finish off the 944 Cup over at ESR.
Count me in as someone who is happy to help with setups, btw. I have a setup guide over at ESR, and while it's mostly geared towards Historic GT & Touring Car, many of the principles apply to all cars.
When I jump into this series it will be with both feet. Not gonna brag of course, for all I know you're all going to kick my ass--I haven't even run ORSM before, our last V8 Supercar season was with the FVR_V8 mod.
EDIT: is ORSM V8Factor Unleashed - Version 1.10 still the mod we plan to use?

Oh, I will give a minor suggestion on the schedule though: the last time we ran the season, we picked a lot of the modern tracks as I see you guys are planning on doing--BEWARE! Some of them are quite hastily thrown together and glitchy... Sydney comes to mind, off the top of my head. Most of them are fantastic but look out for some of those new street courses, not all of them were made so great. :/

I believe the first round is Apr 24. There's a exhibition V8 event next Wed. Season 6 will be interesting and very competitive... and with the range in skills we have I expect lots of battles no matter where one fits into the field. I think you'll be up to speed pretty quick though

Dammit, that's our season finale, and at my home track to boot! When do the races start over here, EST?

Quali would be 10:15 Eastern (7:15 Pacific), races start at approx 10:30 Eastern
If you haven't, head over to the V8 forum and pick a car. V8 Factor Unleashed uses shared team pits so we are trying to have 2 cars in most teams (though there are a few with 3)

Damn. I think I'm out of the championship run in 944 anyway, so I guess I can always miss it. Okay, well I want #66 but am I correct in reading that there aren't any Holdens left already?

We noticed that when testing. Ended up going back to the updated RF version of Sydney rather than FVR for that very reason. The majority if the tracks are used over at R2P or we have used in the past, so hopefully it won't be an issue. I've learned in my old age to never say never though.
