Soldering is one of those skills that anyone into the kinds of things were are should know. Thanks to the internet you can often find people with same problem and sometimes the fix is easy.
My Onkyo AV receiver started malfunctioning and wouldn't recognize HDMI devices. It turned out to be a common problem with 5 or 6 specific capacitors on the video input board.
So, $3.50 in caps (I bought 10 so I had spares) and about an hour (I took my time) of careful desoldering and soldering and I fixed it (that was 3 years ago). Saved myself $500-600 if I had to replace the receiver.

Agreed! I didn't have a need until today but I can see where there is certainly some value in having a good setup.

So unfortunately my novice soldering job didn't hold through practices on Saturday and it gave out with about 5 laps left in the Enduracers event yesterday.
Fanatec got back to me this morning and with the picture I showed them of the loom they say $5 for a new Main Cable as they call it. I tried to get one from Simulation1 (Fanatec's dealer in Canada) but they didn't have any.
Just waiting to hear back as I requested to purchase a few of them to have as spares.
Cheers!

Bummer. Hopefully they don't ding you $17 for a mailing envelope.

Bummer. Hopefully they don't ding you $17 for a mailing envelope. I imagine it will not be cheap, but that is why I am asking for some extra cables as well.

Hehe. Yup. That's why I had them throw in a couple load cells when I ordered my GT3RS way back when.

I can check with the US Fanatec rep, or I should say, ex rep. He might have some of these laying around.

Thanks Bash. I think I am covered personally as rusty is sending me one and I hope to nab two from Fanatec directly.
If you can nab more for the Fanatec base here as a whole that might be a good idea if you can swing it.

If you splice in an inch of wire between the two halves that broke, it should give it more give, and maybe the solder will hold. Just an idea.

I will hold tight until the new cables show up. I have my Driving Force GT up and running so I can manage.

Fanatec US contacted me today with the order for the 2 cables. $14USD total for the two cables w/shipping so I'm happy about that. Should be shipping tomorrow.
Cheers!

I know guys keep saying that its surprising that Fanatec provided good customer support, but for the most part, I've had very good response over the past couple years. The issue with the CSW ticked me off a bit, but I can't say that any other sim wheel company does it any better.
Glad things worked out for ya Kelly.

I agree. So far my experience has been positive with Fanatec. They have been timely to respond, fair and are shipping me what I asked for and from the nearest spot to me that has the stock.
I would prefer the product hadn't broken but it did but its getting resolved and I think that is totally fair.
Cheers!
