I use whatever is accurate for the car. I would love to have a sequential shifter but none of the sim-racing versions (even my Thrustmaster) really works like a sequential, but more like a slap shifter. So it's no fun. For these cars I'll be using paddle shifts, and only clutching to get in and out of the pits. When I drive HGT, or DRM, or any of the other classic mods that had real transmissions and clutches, I use it properly.

tiger I use the DSD sequential it is an excellent shifter for these cars (well all cars) but I use auto clutch more for noise because of moinlaw I don't wanna be smashing another pedal plus im a left foot braker

I use the clutch, unfortunately with H-shifter as too hard to switch out with CSR sequential

Also... If I remember the other staff discussions right, we're removing the 75% race completion requirement for points scoring.
For Season 6 all racers that take the start will receive points based on the final race classification even if they DNF due to mechanical, rage quit or disco.

Yeah, this season is going to be nuts!
Don't forget to get your skin request in. If you don't have any ideas, Stinky may be able to hook you up w/ a version of the BasherBoards/Wright Tools Falcon (I can let you get away with it as you're in the other DJR car) in a different color fairly easily. Speaking of which, I need to ask him to change the names on my windows...

Thanks for reminding me on this Dale. We are going to remove the mandatory 75% completion to receive points. This does not mean a guy can jump in and intentionally disconnect (not that anyone would do that). It will be left up to the Stewards to decide if someone should or should not receive points due to a rage quit or whatever the circumstance may be. So if you do this, you may be risking points.
The main reason for this change is to prevent someone from getting a goose egg if they have a computer lockup. get wrecked out, etc.

I should have brought this up earlier, maybe it's too late. Most other leagues I have been involved with have allowance for drop races, especially when the season is long. Have you guys considered that here? I'm sure everyone would like to make every race, but it is rarely possible. If you allowed one or two drop weeks, it would put more people in the hunt for the championship standings.

If I may make a suggestion.... Rather than all the insane mathematical headaches "dropping your worst race" causes for the admin... We just provide provisional points to those who miss races. Something significantly less than last place, but still enough that, if you miss one race, you're not necessarily out of the running for the title, especially if you win a lot. For example (real V8 points) if you gave 150 pts for a race win, and, say, 16th place was 50 points, then a Provisional for missing the race might be 25 points.
Just a thought.

I learned to drive a stick in a Super Stock when I was 14, so I was never formally taught heel-toe, or even finesse really... Just as in real life, I clutch on upshifts, and do not clutch on downshifts, just burp the throttle until the shifter slips into the gear. Stockcar racers and rally drivers use this method, because left foot braking provides more precise adjustments during corner entry (giving it minor throttle while also modulating the brakes can help the car turn when a push occurs)... Downside is, I tend to be harder on transmissions.

If you allowed one or two drop weeks, it would put more people in the hunt for the championship standings. It's trivial to configure the spreadsheet to drop the worst result from the driver's total but does it matter? Let's say we drop everyone's worst result from Season 5. I just did that using the spreadsheet from last season. The overall standings didn't change. Only 6 drivers raced every event (Jeff, Jason, Me, Chris, You, Bear) so 22 drivers already have an automatic dropped week. Bear, you and I had one DNF to that's the drop week. If I delete the worst result from the 3 remaining drivers, no positions change or close significantly. For example (real V8 points) if you gave 150 pts for a race win, and, say, 16th place was 50 points, then a Provisional for missing the race might be 25 points. If we get fields as large as we expect it would be a lot less than that. 25th place for the 150 point event would be 30 points. A reasonable provisional (if a decision was made to go that route) might be 50% of the final finisher's points.
