I'm trying to determine if people saw widespread warping/lagging issues or if it was just a few cars (and the same cars) each time. It sounds like it was just some...

just a thought, not sure how your server is set Maybe it could be as simple as removing the 2010 and community edition folders of the server and 2012 if you have them

Well, sounds like there was again some excitement and again some frustration. Sorry I missed the race, but the good news is I got my bag back tonight!
Just looked at the results and read some of the posts here. I see there are a couple guys that will need to claim a car and change their names. I know RR1CHO joined in just shortly before the race and didn't have a chance I'm sure. Please be sure to do so and also post in the new member section to introduce yourself to the group.
Second, I would like to thank RR1CHO (aka Jason) for creating this awesome version of Pukekohe. While I obviously didn't get a chance to race it, the few laps I ran in practice I must say I am VERY impressed with the quality. I see you also created a new version of Barbagallo. We were planning on using the old version that's been around for awhile. I haven't had a chance to test yours yet though to see it's race ready. Let me know and we may go ahead and use it instead of the old version.
We continue to break attendance records, which is great. However, along with growth comes frustration for some. After seeing the V8's in person last weekend, I can tell you even the pros screw up. This is not an excuse for careless driving, but just part of racing. I have been the punter and the puntee on occasions and both are very frustrating. We do need to do our best to try to drive very cautiously at the start of these races when everyone is bunched up. I know I repeat that like a broken record before each race, and I'm sure Dale did as well tonight. I want this series to be fun for everyone. You may not like the settings on the server, but it is what it is. It may suit some drivers better than others, but if you are to succeed, you must adapt. I have already seen some drivers adapt to this quickly. Believe me, I'm still not used to it myself as I've always been hard on tires, but I'm trying to learn as I go as well.
I'm sure I'll hear more in the next day or so about this race and we will do what we can, but please be patient as we work out as many kinks as we can to try to make for a fun experience. Thanks to everyone who came out tonight. Again, I apologize for not being there, but I'm sure you can understand.

first thing i'd do is turn down the gravel traps at barbagallo //gravel trap Resistance=150000.00 get rid of the 1
//gravel Resistance=125000.00 get rid of the 1 in the TDF
that way guys will get out :0
We raced a 40 min race there no issues just the gravel
yep getting to the intros;0

I for one love the huge grids. I think I figured out why my replays were looking so choppy and bad. I had to increase my bandwidth settings in the network section of rFactor and I'm wondering if everyone has done that. I also have a sneaky suspicion that there's only a couple of "culprits" who are flashing in and out. I know someone was pretty much gone for like 2 turns and half a straight until they just popped up out of nowhere, a car a few cars ahead mentioned something so I think he was talking about the same thing I saw. If we can identify those racers we can help them out to get their connection sorted out.
Hey RR1CHO don't worry about sledgehammering me and shooting my tires out drive-by style while you laughed and threw an empty beer bottle on my car, it's just racing. LOL. JK. Seriously no big deal man. I'm having fun regardless. I had a blast trying to be a hard charger and get some of those spots back. Sorry to the guys that had to get around me. I had NO idea I was that far on the track when I was trying to get back on. Fortunately I was VERY slow while doing it so as not to cause an accident but I really didn't know my ass end was sticking out so far.
As far as penalties I'm kinda mixed on it. Don't want to take the "fun" and relaxed element out of it but at the same time I see where they can be beneficial to "promote" cleaner racing. One group I race with has a penalty of no qually AND you have to do a drive through on the first lap. But they always do a formation lap and rolling start so don't know how that would work with our format.

It was a Jack bottle sorry man I knew it felt extra heavy for a beer bottle!!! I was gonna pass this race up because my left knee is in pain. Slept "wrong" or something but woke up and it really hurt. Standing not bad, walking forward not too bad but lateral movements are out the question. So there was no clutch for me tonight but glad I stuck it out, had a ton of fun.

Alright, well, there was something seriously wrong with my setup then, apparently tire wear was ONLY an issue for me. That was fucking ridiculous. Sorry to grumble. Still have no idea how it got that much worse from Practice to Qual. I'm usually very good at conserving tires.
And I also agree, two races separating fast and slow is a real kick in the pants to the slower guys, and takes away lapped traffic, which is a VERY important part of racing, especially longer races. I only had trouble with a single lapped car all race, who almost seemed like he was blocking me through Sector 3. I dunno if he didn't see me or what. But I would think an ideal time to allow a lead lap car by is at the end of a straightaway when you're both side by side heading into a corner. If you're not in an immediate battle with another driver, you can let off slightly earlier than you normally do and let the guy go. I don't want a lapped guy to have his race ruined either, but he also shouldn't be driving with blinders on.
EDIT: oh and yes, once we moved to the Practice server, I thought everything ran flawlessly. Ed Durbin was the only one that seemed to have problems, upwards of 1 second on his ping times and warping in and out of the track randomly. Everyone else looked perfect. I dunno what it IS about Jason's machine, but it's gotta be Jason's machine.

Congrats to the champ for the win and to Jason and Smokey for their podium finish. I put myself in a hole as I jump the start and had a drive thru , but I was able to work my way back to finish 9th. Even with the bad start I was pleased with my tire strategy. My1st stint I was able to get to get 14 laps on softs, 2nd stint I did 24 laps on inters and did the remaining 12 laps on softs. The only lagging I saw was Ed's car hovering around the track(only in the beginning of the race) and Pavil when he was stuck in the sand trap. Other than that no other iagging, but then again I wasn't around too many cars during the race. Sorry to see some did not have a good time, but for me even with the bad start I still had a good time BTW...I'm liking the 2x tire setting, I'm learning sometimes you have to go slower to be faster! lol

Looks like I posted to the wrong thread last night. I did rage quit after being hit pretty hard on the first laps of two restarts. I never asked for a restart but wasn't about to hot lap at the back for 50 laps either. I qualified 22nd and was being careful. Not sure what guys that far back are trying to accomplish on the first lap but it is very unfortunate.
Hope to see you in two weeks.

I was thinking about the 2 room situation. I know many people are against it but what if we take the approach that the English premier league takes. Basically we split the drivers into 2 rooms. So for example at the end of this season you take the top 1/2 of the drivers based on points and they go into room 1, and the bottom 1/2 goes into room 2. Now a new season starts with 2 rooms. Then at the end of the season we can take the bottom 5 drivers from room 1 and they get put into room 2, and the top drivers from room 2 move up to room 1. Then you start the next season with a different grid than the previous season. This would make drivers want to get better and move into room 1 and the guys in room 1 to drive faster so they can stay in room 1. Just a thought.
