The picture was more than likely developed on a pc with heavy AA applied like they did with the original forza demo cause if next gen console are looking this good for $400 I clearly wasted thousands on a pc lol

The real question is how will it drive? Sure it will be pretty but will the physics be as good as dedicated PC titles?

Only the PC lets you use any wheel you want. Only PC lets you do triple screens, without buying additional copies of the game or equipment. And, only PC gives you iRacing, rFactor 1 and 2 and netKar PRO and Assetto Corsa. In short, the only place to find true sim racing is on the PC.

What they sold a lot of people on were the visuals in an in-game highly optimized renderer that had access to almost all of the console's power because it wasn't running the game/physics/IO/etc. Of course, it all went to shit in-game when they couldn't even support proper AA and full-frame rate mirrors. It will be interesting what the next-gen consoles bring to the table though.

It will be interesting what the next-gen consoles bring to the table though. I agree with the above. I think a lot of what you see, especially stills, if not rendered on high-end PC's is at the very least highly touched up. For me the most notable memory of Forza 4 was how poor the graphics were in an actual online race... I expect these games on the upcoming generation of consoles to finally start to look as good during a race as they do in the more fixed environments. However, as far as I know these consoles are still not supporting multi-monitors so while they will be able to finally deliver standard 1080p, likely at 60fps, I doubt they could do so across three screens. That said, from reading posts elsewhere, it seems like the size of teams behind GT and especially Forza dwarf those behind any PC racing sim. So with all those resources they should be able to deliver a pretty polished graphics experience, especially (again aiming at Forza) if graphics is really the only feature you care to enhance. From my limited experience with the GT6 demo I don't think PD has fallen into the shiny graphics is all you need trap...

What would be awesome to see in the future is a system sold to all with the capability of upgrading the gpu (plug &play) for those who want triple screen support Just like they have for hdd upgrades I think the next gen consoles will have enough juice in them to really bump up the physics side and allow them to shorten the gap between consoles and pc for the time beining.

I do think that the main goal for Forza 5 is to enhance the graphics. The cloud-based stuff is also cool, but not new. Real Racing 3 already does cloud-based time shifted multiplayer, where you basically race against other humans, just not at the same time. FFB and physics don't sell millions of copies of the game. Eye candy does. I have the Xbox One and Forza 5 pre-ordered, but I continue to worry about the wheel situation. GT6 looks more awesome every time I see it, and I am highly confident it will support triple screens out of the box. I have the three PS3s ready to go, and the Clubsport wheel and pedals. My guess is that GT6 will get much more seat time than Forza 5, much like GT5 ended up being played by me a lot more than Forza 4.

an interesting aside (at least for me)... I was looking at a GT5 replay quite a bit this week and the one thing that immediately leapt out at me was how twitchy the cars were. I use a wheel with GT5 and most of the usual group does also, but with drop-ins I really have no idea if wheel or controller. But anyways I was quite surprised and somewhat saddened to see how unrealistic some of the cars would respond in the replay. A car could be just behind a leading car to one side, say the right side and then all of a sudden flick completely to the left in an attempt to get by Was watching a couple of rFactor replays this evening and while I had previously thought they were not that smooth after watching GT5 the rFactor ones looked like melted butter and more importantly no cars flicking quickly from one position to another...
