I had a ton of fun out there. Got into a few fender-benders, sorry guys, but all in all the fun was definitely there. Got into the top 10, barely. Actually did stronger than I thought. Was sure I was looking at a 15 finish or worse.

My stratagey did not work. I only did 1 stop and ran both stints on inters. Live and learn. Had a good solid run after dropping to 17th on the first lap to get back into the top 10. Finished 8th so I am pleased. My only request would be for DARTH VADER to use his real name next time so we know where the heavy breathing is coming from......

Congrats to the winner and podium finishers.
I had never raced on this track before. In practice for the race found the track is super technical. Very hard to run fast here but there is a rhythm to the track. I was able to find some pace during the week but still a second or two off the fast times.
I qualyed 8th. I quickly got into 6th on the first lap and was nose to tail with Jeff and John for a few alaps, fun stuff guys. Because of tire and pit strategies I was running as high as 3rd at one point. I was running softs and realized during the race that I could barely make 10 laps, I was coming in to the pits with hardly any right front tire showing, risking a blowout. So decided to make it a 3 stop race with the last one splitting the last 15 laps giving me more tire for the end. Coming out from that stop I pounded hard and caught back up to Jeff and Tony in there own battle but by the time I caught them and only a lap and a half till the end I had to back it down to save the front tire to finish. I think I could have passed them both if I'd had any tire left. I finished 6th and was happy with that all things considered, I hadn't had the time to practice as much for this race as the other ones, maybe would have helped hard to say.

Had a great race last night, much better than I expected. For once, I made no mistakes. I started on softs but quickly realized they would not last long. I pitted around lap 9 or 10 and put on intermediates. They lasted until lap 25 or 26 and then I finished with softs. There is no question that doing a 2 stopper was the critical ingredient that allowed me to score a rare top 10 finish. It was nice to see the back of Jeff's and Jason's cars and have them on the same lap as me. LOL!!!

And just think, no forum posts from the fast guys complaining about us "lappers." I love it!!!

*sigh* another day, another 2nd. Saw Boza and Jeff both have tire troubles and, suddenly, THEIR UPPANCE HAS COME! But this other asshole showed up... Ah well. Clearly a Soft/Soft/Inter 2 stopper was the way to go, as seen by Bence's 25 second gap at the end. I will say, my single stop, Inter/Inter strategy did "work" this time--had Spence not been around, I very likely would have won the race, as I was maintaining the gap to Boza before his off anyway. So it CAN work. I made it 18 laps on Inters for my first stint, and toward the end I was passing guys who were blowing their Soft tires off. One of these days...

The tire monster got me this time!! Dunno what happen I had 40% of tire left and all sudden it blew. Had to limp to the pits and as soon as I entered pit lane my other front tire blew out . Took me 2 mins just to get to my pit stall!! Hopefully I'll have better luck next race. Congrats to Jason and podium finishers. BTW the heavy breathing was not me. I have my mic set to push to talk and when Sheldon said it was me I was trying to talk without hitting the button and nobody heard me.

I'll take an 11th after the 1st lap mishap. All the races Kelly & I have run together over the last 2 years...we've had more trouble the past 2 races than the past 2 years. For the second race in a row we managed to hook fenders and I went for a ride...taking fairly severe damage. He looked to push a little wide coming off T2, I didn't see him sneaking up the right side and went to shuffle to the right to setup for the upcoming LH for entry into the esses. Bump. "Weee!" "Oh shit!" Crash. "Stop, don't slide back into the track!" "Whew. Stopped." With all the ground I lost off the get go, I changed my 2 stop strategy to a 1 stop in the hopes to regain a bit of lost time. Toughed it out for the first stint w/ no front splitter (resumed dead last), and managed to get 15-16 laps out of the softs before they were done. Threw inters on the car (along w/ damage repair), as I knew softs weren't going to make it, and just put it on cruise. I think I got up as high as 8th or 9th prior to the stop. Ended up sliding back to 11th...barely holding off Sheldon who was on a charge the last 3 or 4 laps. Another lap or 2, and it would've been different. Fun track. Definitely needed more time on it though.

Can someone possibly provide a stand-alone link to the FULL GP track of COTA that Bence was talking about? I think his over-wrote it, so I don't have a copy, and I'd rather not download a 1 gig track pack for one track....
