As much as I love this track, front-running pace eludes me here. I did several test tire wear runs and decided with about 14 laps of fuel per fill that I wasn't going to gain much being sneaky and doing long stints on softs. Two-stopping on inters was a possibility but looking at lap times I could see that three-stop on softs was the best for me. Unfortunately, a poor grid position meant I got bottled up in traffic off the start. Once I cleared traffic I could set my own pace which was 2:09 and that was no where near the leaders. Everything worked out well and I was satisfied with 5th until I saw the gap to John Nelson tumbling. He raced me hard on the last lap and I couldn't find a way by to steal 4th. My main goal for last night was to move closer to Armando in points and increase teh gap back to Kevin. Mission accomplished

I was lucky to grab pole last night. Pushed as hard as I could. Thought I was gonna steal this one with a 2 stopper on inters.....WRONG. Turns out I should have gone with softs all the way. Live and learn. I only made one mistake and cost me abot 10 seconds so not a big deal since I was still able to hold off Dan in the end. Next race will be SOFTS all the way no matter what.....LOL

Tough race; clearly pace over pit strategy worked here. I was able to stretch my Softs 10 full laps, so I could do only 3 stops. Unfortunately, the last 2 or 3 laps of each of those stints, the tires were bad enough that I lost upwards of 3 seconds a lap. Jeff on the other hand, did 4 stops, going 7-8 laps on Softs, but even though we were almost identical pace, he never ran the slow laps. So, that, and a little bad luck in traffic, sealed my fate. Congrats to Jeff.
Having said that, god DAMN am I happy to be on the podium at Bathurst! Any of the ESR guys will tell you, I have HORRIFIC luck at this track, frequently qualifying near the front but DNFing almost every damn race. So the fact I ran the entire race without any major wrecks is a win for me.

Our first ever 90 minute endurance event for the V8 Supercars is now in the books. Thanks to everyone that came out. Didn't quite hit the 20 car mark, but I understand 90 minutes can be a daunting task to the faint at heart. Seriously though, it was a lot of fun. I qualified 8th. I wasn't too concerned, but looking back I probably should have changed up my strategy a bit. I started on softs, but couldn't take advantage of them much as I was stuck behind traffic early on. Eventually was able to get around a couple guys in front, but had to pit around lap 10. I threw some inters on for my next couple stints. Had a great battle with Chris for several laps. My setup would catch up to guys around the twisty part of the track, but couldn't make a clean pass. Then when we would hit the straights, I had a bit too much downforce to take advantage. I pit with about 8 laps to go and threw on the softs. After my outlap, Boza came out of the pits and what ensued was an epic battle for 6th the final 7 laps. I got by him on Skyline while his tires were still cold. Battled for a few laps with him right on my tail and then he re-passed me. I hoped that he burned up his tires during this time and just tried to keep him within striking distance. My prayers were answered with half a lap to go as his rt front was shot and I was able to eek out a 6th place finish. Epic battle Boza - one of the best I've had all season! Another reason I love racing with guys here at GBR - top notch (no matter what Dale and Chris say about ya). Congrats to the podium - the battle for the points lead continues to be neck and neck.

Congrats to Mr. Jeff Hooper for his win! What a tough track let alone the fact it was an enduro. Way to go, job well done. Not so much for me. Ran inters the whole time and started out racy following Kevin oh so close. Nearly went under his car when he bicycled it. Then I started pinball'n and the car drove for crap for most of the race. Didn't thoroughly prepare for this one, had no idea you could fix damage for free. Yes Marvin, I was a little scary just glad I didn't wreck anyone. Oh well lessons learned, bit late and now water under the bridge so we trudge on and give it another go another day. I'll be back fellas!!!

oh man! just looked at the points i'm gonna have to fight my butt off to stay in the top 10. theres no room for errors This was supposed to be the race to get me within a fighting chance for a top 10 finish but I don't see it happening now. I'd have to pull of miracle after miracle to get that now and that next track is not quite miracle inducing for me from the looks of it.
