Those review scores reinforce my initial vibe about the game. I stand by my theorization that COD was designed for console...PC was an afterthought they didn't care about, but decided to try to cash in on some free money. I do not disagree. I will say that in all fairness, it does look like they did some PC specific work, that was lacking in past Call of Duty PC ports. There are a host of PC specific graphics customization options such as "ambient occlusion", anti-aliasing, including the option to do TXAA, and motion blur. This article from the Nvidia web site summarizes it nicely: www.geforce.com/whats-new/articles/call-of-duty-ghosts-definitive-pc-version-available-nowEven though I have a powerful rig, I have not been able to get the game to look as good as the screen shots. Also, the game will automatically detect your Xbox 360 controller, if you use that to game on your PC.

From that link: Sehr kurz (5h), wenig anspruchsvoll und logisch Google translate: Very short (5h), undemanding and logical Which I assume refers to the single player.

I love this guy and respect his opinion on gaming. He calls the PC version of Ghosts a festering pile of #$#@ in this 20 minute youtube video that I cannot wait to watch tonight after our rFactor 2 exhibition races.

The video I had watched mentioned the current "developers" are not ones that developed the original IP. Most/all of the original game designers have left and started up another company w/ their new release coming spring of next year...and it's one that I've heard a few FPS are waiting to see. Of course the name escapes me at the moment...probably due to my lack of interest in the FPS genre.
That said, I did really enjoy running w/ Kelly in BF3. It's a damn shame the co-op multiplayer was bugging out on us...I was looking forward to trying to finish that.

I'd be willing to jump back into that with you sometime although I'm a much less effective teammate than Kelly

Something tells me we are probably on about the same level. I'd definitely be down. Might as well try to get some use out of the $60 I spent on it.

West has since left Respawn. Respawn is doing Titanfall, which is going to be exclusive, at least initially, to Xbox One, 360 and PC. It looks pretty frickin cool. I do not think the problem is West and Campanella being gone. Treyarch developed Black Ops and Black Ops II, both of which are excellent. Post-West and Campanella IW did Modern Warfare 3 and that was also awesome. I suspect the problem is that the PC version of Ghosts uses a new engine, that the programmers did not have enough time with. Jerry correctly references the blurred state of the graphics in Ghosts.

One of the guys over at wsgf.org already has a fix in the works. He showed some screen shots of the game with triple screen resolution and a fixed FOV. It looks incredible. I just do not understand why IW did not do this out of the box, like Dice did with Battlefield 4. I would think that Nvidia and AMD, along with the monitor companies, would encourage IW to do this for what looks like will be the best selling video game of all time. The reports are that Ghosts grossed more than $1 billion in sales in the first 24 hours after release.

The triple screen fix for Call of Duty Ghosts has gone live. I tried it this morning and it works great. Make sure you follow the directions, including setting Image Quality at "Extra" in order to get decent looking graphics. Here is the link to the download for the fix: www.flawlesswidescreen.org/

I spent another hour or two with Ghosts over the weekend, with the Flawless Widescreen fix in place for Nvidia Surround. The fix is available for free at www.flawlesswidescreen.org. My triple screen resolution is 5760 X 1200. To get the game looking good, with 40-60 FPS, I had to reduce the AA to the FXAA option, which is fine. Very few, if any, jaggies are present. I also turned down some of the other stuff, such as ambient occlusion. I set Image Quality to "Extra" on the advice of the Flawless Widescreen programmer. Even with those changes, the graphics look excellent at 5760 X 1200. That being said, you can tell this is a new engine, as Ghosts taxes my system far more than past COD games. I fired up Battlefield 4 over the weekend as well and its graphics are better than what I am getting in Ghosts, but not light years ahead, as some reviews are claiming, particularly since I can only run Battlefield 4 on Medium settings at 5760 X 1200 with my system. My only complaint about Ghosts at this point is the audio. Whether I am playing single player or multiplayer, the audio cuts out and/or stutters frequently, particularly when the action gets hot and heavy. I have no idea whether this is something that will be patched, and I do not know what to do to fix it.

its supposedly the same old engine with 'add ons' basically Nvidia calls them "upgrades." To be fair, the game does look next-gen compared to prior COD games on PC.
