Turned out that I had somehow downloaded and installed BES 2012 SP1 rather than SP1.2.
Quite a difference. From a pure speed standpoint they are almost identical now.
I noticed that the GBR brake pressure patch missed the mark with the Audi, it adjusts from 80-280% in 10% increments.

I'll look into this tonight and make sure the links provided are the same version. I got it from PTSims where the creator used to be associated with. Sorry for the confusion but we'll figure it out.

I'm on a train but this is killing me. Could you guys let me know if you installed the mod in its "full" form or updated it from older installs? The "official" download was from www.ptsims.net/forum/index.php/topic,8485.0.html The developer has moved on from that site but not before the last version was released. I know I installed from the "full" and will check after our trans-am race tonight for anything that would make it clear. Tom, the brake patch does let it go way too high but once the car is adjusted it works. Do you need it to go under 80%? |

I made another fresh installation with SP1.2 earlier this morning using the download from your mirror. I checked my car's main body DDS to be 2733 KB in this one, too, but a sampling of the other Audis Ferrari 458s are each twice that size. |

I was using the same install we used in the test/exhibition nights. I don't think I changed it since Hawks made the brake patch. That's why I'm not sure now if I'm just confusing things because I didn't grab the mod from the d/l link.

I think there was a release after the first exhibition so maybe you patched it. Don't go nuts until I get a chance to look.

If you can get on the server, don't worry about it to much. Otherwise we'll end up F'ing it up before the first race.

Apparently, if you don't have an alpha layer, DXT1 is the way to go. Reads like we need DXT (1, 3 or 5) and DXT1 would make for a smaller file size. The default Blancpain body DDS files look like they don't have an alpha layer so I tried compressing my main DDS as DXT1. Yup, spot on. I checked the BES skins just now with DXTViewer. The smaller files are RGB DXT1, the larger ones are RGBA (three colour channel + alpha) DXT5. RGBA DXT5 is the usual default for rFactor skins. |

I was able to get on the server without mismatch the other night so evidently I'm good there. My skin will likely have the same file sizes as everyone else but not the same as the default skin. I'm essentially finished, still tweaking on the window skin, keep changing my mind about a detail. |
