I don't think even Dale or Chris can get away with doing a one stop on inters here, but they have surprised me in the past. Surprise!!! Surprise! My left front just turned red on the 12th lap. I thought about softs, figured I could stretch them, but for me, the time drop on fresh softs wasn't going to be greater than the time lost when they wore out. I was able to keep pretty consistent times over the run on inters...and I was less than a second slower on best times compared to softs.

As Jeff said, it was a relatively enjoyable race. I didn't really like the layout at all and now I can see why I've never sim-raced on it before (I got it confused with Autodrom Most). Because most of the fast corners were righties, I set the car up with a little bit of an offset to help deal with toasty front tires. Also taking some weight out of the rear so the car wouldn't plow as much helped too.
Jeff's strategy was identical to mine for the same reasons. On lap 1, Nick just pulled away 3 seconds and I knew he'd be pitting twice for tires as a result. So after having some fun with Armando for a little bit, the only real race for me was to keep all four tires on the track. Came in on lap 12 or 13 with 16% remaining on the left front, and totally botched my pit stop, almost stalling twice and losing 8 seconds. Another three seconds and Jeff would have been by, and we probably would have had a good battle to the end.
Anyway, good fun as always! I need to remember to disconnect my horn button...

Complete disaster for me. If I went fast enough to keep up with Zeke or Nick or Boza, I would tear strips out of the Intermediates in 7 Laps. If I backed off to make them last BARELY 10 laps, the other guys who were "backing off" like Chris and Dale blew by me like I was standing still. In other words, I stopped twice on Inters, and went slower than guys who stopped once on Inters. I hate this kind of racing.
But that's what we're here for I guess. I'm just gonna have to look forward to the sprint races.

This is exactly why we change up the formats from week to week. Each plays to some driver's strengths and others weaknesses.
I didn't get hardly any practice then had to rush to get online in time for the race. That being said, I did enjoy this track. I went with inters and a 1 stop strategy. My setup was a bit squirly on the back end, so broke loose easily around the tighter corners. Had a good battle with Chris for awhile, but he had really good pace and made a great, deep braking move on one of the sharp left handers and got by me. I then set my sights on Dale and trailed him for awhile. Thought I could make the pass a couple times, but couldn't quite get it done. Rich also had good pace and eventually got by. In the end I finished 7th, with the three of us being less than a second apart. Great racing.

I like where this is going myself. Strategy is huge it seems this season. Not that it wasn't last season. I had a bad off which cost me alot of time but more than that it was just managing the tires and pits that really cost me. I wore them bad boys down the rim but when my spotter started talking about watch out for blowing tires out I just didn't want to risk that. One thing is pretty evident though. I'll need to practice for these races. I really didn't do anything for this race and it showed.

Maybe I should have thrown out my setup from last year and just gone full loose. That way at least I would have smoked my almost pristine REAR tires off instead....

I hate you Dale!! One stop on softs......really.....sheeeeet!! New strategy for this season is to use inters no matter what!! Fun race though even if I spent half the race on pit lane!! lol

My problem is that with the new members and the decreasing lap times we're seeing lately, my tire management pace isn't enough to podium so this old dog needs to learn some new tricks. Sure I got 5th but that could've easily been a 10th if others ran a different strategy and/or I got into a few battles.

With pitlane taking nearly one minute I rolled the dice on one-stopping the softs.

Pit-in to pit-out was taking about 55 seconds and the race was 24 laps. I could give up 2 seconds a lap on worn tire and still be ahead of a two-stop strategy. With pitlane taking nearly one minute I rolled the dice on one-stopping the softs.

Enjoyed yesterdays race, not the most comfortable conditions mind you with the outside temperature here pushing close to 100 and me forgetting to turn the air con on before the race.... doh, I was soaked in sweat at the end of the race!
I knew I didn't have the pace on inters (even on a 1 stopper) as I could only manage a best of a 6 flat wheras with softs I could circulate in mid to low 2:02's meaning that a 3 stopper was still quicker for me than going on to the inters.
Those up front on inters had great pace on them and well done to the podium finishers. I've got 2 weeks to recover and back to a track in Australia which I really enjoy.... as long as my tyres hold out!
Thanks again to GBR for putting on a great event

Had some good lapping with folks and running up to mid pack but had 1 off with bad damage that costed dearly in pits. Then, having done some R2P racing and other, got in my head we were 45mins and timed my fuel perfectly only to find we were not done and ran dry.
Fred, NP on that bump, I do enter turns slow then seek exit speed. We had many laps of racing, some fun back there. Not sure where all that speed comes from up front, but racing is fun anywhere in pack
One more comment, now can't tie the forum posts to the race entries names, geeze they're all different, thats not so normal perhaps
