Just over 24 hours until our first endurance event of the season. Been pretty quiet around here lately. Hope to see a good turnout tomorrow night. I'm going to jump on in a bit and do some practice. Spa has always been my nemesis (and not in a good way).
Tire strategy is going to come into play big time (I know, what's new right?). I'm about 4-5 sec/lap quicker on softs than inters. 1 or 2 stops? Maybe no stops? Hmm...the possibilities are endless.

Can you clarify, whether we'll be using the pit exit at La Source, or alllllll the way at the bottom of Eu Rouge.

I'm off work for the rest of the week. That means I get to do a metric buttload of practice tomorrow

Damn. 60 minutes here on Wednesday, then 75 at Imola on Sunday. The ESR boys are gonna be worn out!

Can you clarify, whether we'll be using the pit exit at La Source, or alllllll the way at the bottom of Eu Rouge. We have always used the pit exit after the hairpin. No need to keep going all the way down to Eau Rouge. Just be sure to announce you are exiting pits and keep right as cars are accelerating quickly as they head to Eau Rouge.

Pitted on lap nine(softs), and did not look back. Lost me two positions at the end, but it was a learning experience.

Glad I was finally able to get the track working...that was frustrating. I was a couple minutes from saying, "Fuck it. Have fun, I'm done for the night." I ended up spending most of the race chasing Boza until he made his stop. I tried to conserve enough of the inters to make them last long enough to try a final stint on softs. I was able to make it, but lost nearly 8 seconds to Boza by the time I left the pits. I figured running him down wouldn't be too bad, but I was afraid it would take too long to get around him, and let Dale get too close (who I knew was on softs). Fortunately I was able to get a run on him exiting Les Combes and was able to make the pass stick into the right hander. From there I slowly inched away and managed to hang on to the final podium spot. Far better than I expected to finish. This has been a hell of a season for me so far. Sucks about Hawks disco. Congrats John on the win & Zeke for 2nd place.

Jesus, I'm still 100 points off him? That strategy worked perfectly, and might not work again all season. It was a perfect combination of a relatively short pit lane and a very long lap. So every lap on Softs, I could gain 3-5 seconds per lap over the guys in Inters, instead of 1-2 seconds. So the gap was big enough by the time I pitted that it could work out. Had the lap been short, or the pit lane long, that would have failed. On Lap 9 of my first stint, the tires fell off a cliff, 12% remaining on the Left-Front, and the lap was 10 seconds off the pace. It had me a bit worried, but luckily that gave me a lap in the bank, the next two stints being 8 and 8, so it worked out. Happy to get it, feels a lot more legit than the Oran Park win.

Congrats to the podium, Chris, Cameron and John. Always an excellent accomplishment when you can handle Spa for over an hour in my book. I never would have guessed 2 stops on softs was the answer, so nicely done John.
Another V8 race, another disco for me. Between my last 2 disconnects and missing the Hidden Valley race awhile back, I find myself falling further and further back in the standings. Now my goal is to try to pull off a couple more podiums before season's end.
Last night I went in and uninstalled MSI Afterburner, which I've been running for the past 6 months or so with a slight overclock on my video card. I recently upgraded to the latest WHQL driver, so I'm thinking it may not like the overclock, so I went in and reset to factory default and uninstalled the program completely. I also took my computer outside and used my compressor to blow out the half ton of dust that has been residing inside. I'm hoping that will resolve the lock up issues going forward (knock on wood). If not, I may have to throw the damn thing out the window!
