Fucking Fords.
I joked about the spin while leading costing me the championship, but really it was the stupid-ass speeding penalty at Detroit that sealed the deal, since I was only 4 points back at the time. Stupid, stupid, stupid.
Congrats to Zeke. And I will say it was really cool seeing the tire strategies play out for this particular race, they were all over the map and produced some interesting results.

It wasn't the ABS that put you out. That's locked. You get a notification in the chat window for that. You can hit that button all you want and nothing should happen.
My guess is the cat stepped on some other hot key because the race results show DNF not DQ. I can't quite tell what happens though because your speed is dropping on the GID display but you're not losing ground on the car ahead.
Maybe you got put into AI control or Driver Swap as it looks like your car is not under your control before it sends you to the garage.

OK, I see it now. You're jumping into the seat of the car ahead of you because of the + and - keys. I remember doing something like that once by accident.
I meant to check if that can be locked out in the PLR. It's a stupid option unless you're in Spectator mode.

What a great end to the series for a lot of people, and I was glad we had an almost-decent turnout to spice things up a bit. John laid down a blistering lap in qualifying, but it was fairly apparent that some people had softs for their first stint in the race. I couldn't make softs safely last more than 8 laps so I chose to do a simple one-stopper on intermediates. I was able to do high 2:07's and consistent 08's with them in practice. That was working out great, 'til sure enough, I lost it in Skyline while leading on lap 14 (3 laps before my planned stop) and just destroyed my nose and right front...flashing red is bad! There goes that strategy (and championship at the time)...luckily fixing body damage didn't take too long. Then I thought I'd try going to the end, 20 laps, on one set of intermediates. I could have done that and had 15% left on the right front. The gaps just shrunk too quickly though, and I decided to make a final pit stop around lap 30 to put softs on. The only reason I did that was I figured Jason would still have a good lead, and John would be stuck in 2nd at best. Then I could pass pretty much anyone within 10 seconds gap of my exit, and that was that. I turned into a wimp on the hill after the Skyline crash and just hoped things would work out. The series championship and other points battles weren't decided until the checkered flag flew. Pretty good stuff for 6 months of racing! Thanks to Jason, Dale, and anyone who helps out here, and thanks for letting a new guy to your club compete. I really enjoyed some great side-by-side racing with Jason and John. My only goal was to have fun, and it turned out to be a lot more than that. See y'all sometime in the future, I am going on an rFactor hiatus for a while and only racing when I can dedicate more time to it. Building a real racecar takes a lot out of my brain and the only thing more fun than racing with buddies here is racing the real thing! Edit: P.S., I only picked a Ford because it was the only single-car team left to choose from! And because there weren't any Porsches.

Qualified 4th behind the aliens. Cameron got a slow start off the line in front of me and Boza was able to get up to the inside and I dropped to 5th by turn 1. Boza tried to throw me off by using his lag switch His car would flash in and out for the first couple laps. He would disappear then suddenly would be right in front of me, then disappear again. His connection seemed to improve as the race went on. I hadn't done any long stints in practice, so wasn't sure how long my tires would hold up. I was prepared to go with a 3 stopper if necessary, but after seeing the leaders stay out I decided to change up to a 2 stop strategy on softs. About 8 laps in, the top 5 were only separated by 1.5 seconds! Worked my way up to 2nd, then took my first pit at the end of lap 12. Came out with some clean air and was able to put up some decent lap times. Chris was on a 1 stop strategy on inters and knew I had to get by quickly to have a chance. He went wide through Sulman Park (just before Skyline) and I made the move to the inside to take the lead on lap 19. Pit again on lap 24 with only about 20% left on my right front tire. Came out in 3rd behind Culbert and Wagner and just tried to push as hard as I could as I obviously wasn't concerned about conserving points, just could start to smell the possibility of a victory. Culbert took his last pit stop on lap 28 and I knew he would be pushing hard at the end with fresh rubber. I was gaining on Wagner 3-4 seconds/lap. Coming down Conrod Sraight on lap 29 I was able to get right up on his bumper and slingshot around him through The Chase and take the lead. From there I could see Culbert gaining quickly as his tires were about 4 laps newer than mine. Worked through some traffic and managed to cross the line first with John just 3.4 seconds behind. Had some great back and forth battles and was really cool to see the different tire strategies in play. All the lapped traffic I encountered did a great job of staying predictable and allowing me to get around when possible. After an up and down season for me, it felt great to finally get a victory at Mt. Panorama! Congrats to Cameron for winning the Championship in his first season at GBR! Both he and John were neck and neck the entire series with John coming up just 13 points short in the end. Season 7 of the V8SC has now officially come to and end. I want to thank everyone who participated during the course of the series and appreciate all your support.
