Yeah, I think prohibiting this upgrade for tracks other than Le Mans and Daytona is the correct way to proceed.

Yeah, I think prohibiting this upgrade for tracks other than Le Mans and Daytona is the correct way to proceed. But how would work this? Is possible to do via server settings? Or do we have to rely on a gentlemans agreement? What about other fast tracks? Monza...Sebring. Is very difficult to judge what is a proper track for this package. I would say that the only place where it should be allowed is Le Mans. And thats it.

A patch can be made so that you'd get a mismatch on the server

Oh, ok. So is not possible only via server settings make a upgrade invalid, I guess. The mod must to be patched.

As far as I know, it may be possible if it were tied to the setups, but we obviously don't want fixed setups with a potential series in this mod.
If a series does happen, and a patch is made, you will have issues joining other servers. you will have to have a separate installation for GBR if you plan to run in another series. That's why patching stuff can sometimes be a pain in the ass.

It looks easy on the server side. I can see how to set the allowed upgrades by track... it would just require some testing/learning to ensure we do it right.
I don't like having drivers patch their installs for the reason Zed covered.

I don't like having drivers patch their installs for the reason Zed covered. That would be ideal. And on second thought, locking setups wouldn't work. In the MR2 series which I have locked we are all running the upgraded engine.

I did a quick search and there is a "Fixed Upgrades" toggle in the server settings. As long as we don't have to leave the other upgrades as options that would be an easy fix.
I also found an "Upgrade Checker" that will parse results files and show the upgrades anyone was using. That is an extra admin step that I personally would rather avoid but it is an option.

Yes, that's the thing I'm trying to find time to play with. That checkbox works with an INI file for each car that lists what upgrades are possible for each track. The annoyance seems to be if you change tracks (say from one version of Le Mans to another) then the INI files have to be edited. We can't block all upgrades because there are Force Feedback options in the upgrades.

Is anyone using those FFB options? There is quite a bit of adjustment of FFB in the game. I left that upgrade alone.

Is never easy, isnt?!! Why is not just a thing called "LeMans aeropack" upgrade, that you can supress on the server settings?

Ability to turn it off on server side only would be great, but not sure if it's possible because of the ffb upgrade there too.
A patch would be very easy. I already tested a version for the GT cars and works perfect. You could have a "GBR" patch and if you wanted to revert for the LeMans race or a race outside GBR, a restore patch can be created. Once it's created it's a simple drag and drop to the root directory, just like installing a track.
