As long as everyone is using the upgrade, it won't be an issue for this event. However, if we do multi-class racing in the future this could potentially be a problem, especially in the P2 vs. GTE class from the sounds of it.
I could make a patch in about 10 minutes to eliminate the upgrade completely. I honestly don't care either way, as these cars are a blast to drive no matter what. As long as we are all on the same playing field that is all that matters.
Let me know your thoughts.

Another reminder - be sure you guys are using the 4gb patch for this mod, just like you did for Blanpain. Due to the high res textures, some may have to lower graphic settings with larger fields to achieve good frame rates. If you need the 4gb patch, I provided a link below. I also linked Wombat's Nvidia fix which should help if you are getting any stuttering. 4gb PatchOpen the patch as admin, then point to the rFactor.exe file for this mod. Wombats nVidia FixSimply place the d3d9.dll file in the root directory for rFactor that you are running the mod from. If you are using GID, you can rename the GID d3d9.dll to d3d9_2.dll.

Ok well after reading here and NOT knowing about the AERO package, I decided to give it a try. All I will say is look at live timing and see how much faster I am with this package. Almost 1.5 seconds faster then my previous best with the normal package. Same set up only aero package difference. I tested without the LeMans package and am also about 1.5 seconds slower, so my findings are identical to Johns. However, my top speed in the Vette is 176 mph with the LeMans package and I can only get to 171 mph without it. I have messed with gearing ratios and that's all she can get. As I mentioned above, the real Vette top end on this track is around 176 also. What is your top end comparisons with the Aston John? Just curious. ----------------- PS - Server is currently being used for testing a couple different things, so you will get a mismatch if you try to join at this time.

Server will be offline Sunday while we test patches on it. Mismatches mean you'd just get booted if you connected.

Few more notes. With the BMW. With the LeMans aeropackage installed. It doesnt matter if you uses 1/1 wings or 1/5 (max). Top speed the same. Also it doesnt matter boost 1 or 3. Top speed the same.

If there is a way of block only the LeMans upgrade on the server that would be the ideal solution. Not messing around with the Mod.
But I dont know if is possible.

I finally got around to running a few laps with the P2 Lola to test and it's top end is about the same as the Vette, but obviously a ton of more downforce. Pushing hard I was able to get a 1:41.8. Top qualifying at last years actual race for a P2 (or PC) was a 1:41.7.
Also remember that we are using the early chicane version of the track for the upcoming race. The actual track has a slower chicane and thus would result in even faster times by the real cars.
For that reason, we will not be patching for this exhibition. This is our opportunity to run some races with the mod and if we feel it's necessary to make changes (or patch) at a later date, we will. It may be something to consider for tracks that aren't quite as fast as Daytona and LeMans. Just be sure that everyone chooses the LeMans upgrade for this track so we are all on level playing ground.
The server will be up and running again in a few minutes.

To make things worse, or better, depends how you see it (worse for me)...the LeMans aeropack extends to all classes.
Just information.

I was also curious about real life top speeds of the actual cars, and to my surprise the GT cars top end is a bit faster that the P2 (or PC) cars. I knew that P2's weren't much (if any) faster than GT in a straight line, but didn't realize it was actually slower. Big difference obviously is the Prototypes have tons more downforce, thus the quicker lap times. Thanks for bringing this to our attention Angelo. This has been interesting for me as I've learned quite a bit more about multi-class racing. If this does become a full time series, we will have had time to test it further and evaluate things even more. After all, we are all here to have a good time and enjoy some fun, close racing. By the way, here are the specs I found for those curious like I was. I also found that Traction Control is not permitted on P2 or GT, just the P1 cars. www.imsa.com/imsa101/imsa-101-car-classes

The only reason we are letting the upgrade be used for this exhibition is because the GT cars top out pretty fast on the long stretches w/out it.
I see no reason why we would need it in a series otherwise. So deal with it for this event, and if we run a series with this mod, we could ban it's use on tracks it's not needed on.
