Nice work Joe, but why do you have a .veh file for it? Skins do not require a .veh file. Just a folder called skins in the same area as the car you chose. The .veh file adds a new team to the mod. Not saying you did it wrong, but the difference between added skins and added teams are quite a lot. If someone drops in with out a skin, they will just see the original car, if they drop in with out a team (.veh) it will cause mismatches, and may not work anyway if the server dose not have a copy of it. Bad thing is, the mismatch may not show up till the server goes to qually or race. Most of us use this setting when saving .dds ( DXT5 ARGB 8 bpp | interpolated alpha ) but that is in my photoshop, not sure how it reads in Gimp. Thanks for the input, Dan. I was trying a little of everything to try to get the skin to load correctly, so I created a new .VEH file on a whim.
I've backed that out now, though. and my skin is now found in my rFactor directory as: '...\GameData\Vehicles\WorldEnduranceSeries\GTE\Aston_Martin_Vantage\13LM_Aston Martin Racing\skins\13099LM_VANTAGE.dds'. The .VEH file is gone, so the .DDS file is the only file in this directory now. The original '13099LM_VANTAGE.veh' is in place where it originally was in the "...\13LM_Aston Martin\..." folder. That seems to be working now, and from what I'm hearing you say that shouldn't cause any mismatch when I'm on the server.

You don't want the game looking at two files with the same name, and you want it to be recognized as yours. So name it something like "Joe_VANTAGE.dds or longhornjoe.dds" Then pack it up, and upload to dropbox or whatever you like to use and get David (zed) a link so he can add it to the skin pack. You can add all the folders for the directory, or just let David know where it should be located. Other than that, it looks like you have it set. Most of us are willing to help, so don't be afraid to ask if your not sure about something. Just a thought, Did you overwrite the original car with that name with your skin? If so, get the original car .dds and put it back in.

I'll get it as close as I can, but I can't do the Chrome Green, haven't figured out the chrome look yet, so it will be a lighter green. I'll get started on it as soon as Sheldon gives me the OK to go with what I have for him.

Hey Dan, is my skin alright? That is if you downloaded it from my dropbox. No I had'nt Scott, so I checked it out. I'm assuming your going with 14WE_AF Corse as your team.. I made a Skin folder in that team and it did not show up. Then I realized you used the same name as the original car, so I renamed your dds as S_Beck.dds and it worked fine. So I would suggest you do the same. Just remember, you need to add a folder inside the team folder and name it "Skins". Your car goes in there. And if you used any extras such as windows etc... You would make another folder inside the Skins folder and call it "Misc" and they would go there. And when you upload it so David can put it in a skin pack for all to download, either add all the folders needed for the directory or let David know where it's supposed to be. If you've overwritten the original car with that name, you need to get it back in there. That way if someone uses the stock skin, you wont see your skin on it.

Thanks Dan. I renamed my skin S_Beck.dds and made a new folder named "Skins" and put it in the 14WE_AF Corse folder and it works perfect.

I've renamed the skin to 13LM_Aston Martin Racing_#15_longhornjoe.dds, and still have a copy of the default car's original .DDS file in the 'team' directory. That should do it, so I'll ping David with a Dropbox link. I think the next thing that I'd look at as far as the skins go is to customize the windows. I'd read through the "Paint it Yourself" tutorial and it mentions possibly having an 'xxxWindows.dds' file, but the Aston didn't seem to have one.

Anything over 15 characters may not show up in multi-player. Just shorten it to longhornjoe.dds As for the windows, if it dose not have a .psd for it, your better off leaving it as is.

@ Angelo, starting your skin next. I have a question though. Is it Angelo dos Santos or Angelo Dos Santos? How do you type out your name properly? better yet, type it out how you want it on the skin.
