It is also about 41 gear shift changes per lap.

Great track indeed. Best street track of actual times, in fact. But this Simracing version have way too many grey areas. I dont like this. Lots and lots of places where a bit of cut can give you chunks of time.

Lots and lots of places where a bit of cut can give you chunks of time. GBR has standing rules about that, two wheels have to be on the track surface at all times, (except for accidents/wrecks) If you cut, give back the time/or position gained. And it very rarely happens, but if it dose, say something.

I have a question about turn 12. There is a curb there, but lot's of room to the left of it till you get to the wall. Is it legal to take that turn on the left side of the curb or not. You can gain tons of time if you do cross over the curb and take it right next to the wall.

When you run wide you have to travel farther but carry more speed which imo cancel each other out in most cases. I know when F1 raced at Adelaide they did not penalize anyone. I remember racing at efnet at Barbagalo (LMP2's) and the run off was used occasionally although the ruling was not to. I was choked when someone gained an advantage on the exit of the final turn and avoided a draft pass into T1 so I guess the race stewards will have to make the call here. Just my two cents worth.

I would treat that as we would Adelaide. I don't see an issue running over the curb...if you think you can keep it straight. The curbs at Adelaide are big enough the you can run over them, but they upset the car enough that you don't really gain much of an advantage other than being able to carry more corner speed...but you can't get on the gas quite as early. I'll have to run it soon and see what it's like.

I've been running that turn both ways in case it is deemed illegal to go wide.

But it does upset the car enough that I am not gaining anytime by running over them. As others said comparing it to Adelaide, I would think it is ok. Anybody going to be practicing this weekend? I wouldn't mind hotlapping with some people just for some practice with traffic.

I will run a few laps later tonight and post up a decision so we are all on the same page. I can't get my bearings with those pics. Thanks.

F1 cars seem to put just two wheels over, treating that curb as if it's the track edge.

F1 cars seem to put just two wheels over, treating that curb as if it's the track edge. I have just watched a bunch of real world laps. This is turn 14, not 12. What Dale says is true. In fact, recent iterations of the track has a wall right after the kerb. The typical GBR rules apply...two wheels over the white line which means you can straddle the curb. Going over it by mistake or to avoid another car is acceptable. Do the right thing and lift a touch if you do it inadvertantly during quali. Thanks for bringing it up, Scott.

Yeah, I wasn't exactly sure if it was turn 12 or 14. Thanks. So this is good. Now we know the limits on that part of the track.

Just ran a few laps on this track for the first time tonight. I gotta say, It's a beautiful track. And lots of fun when you figure out the corners. But... I suffer from night blindness in real life. And the fact that the track is well lit, dose not help when the sky is black, it causes my eyes to see everything as grey scale, so I apologize now if I cause any wrecks.
