Finally got this game running better with my dual 560tis. I did the naming trick, changing pcars.exe to AFR-FriendlyD3D.exe. I have most eye candy at high, with low FXAA. I am getting 30-45 FPS at 5760 X 1200 even at Watkins Glen and Spa, two of the toughest tracks in the game when it comes to graphics.

That's great. I haven't tried the renaming trick. Is it just for SLI?

Ya. AFR = alternate frame rendering, a SLI workload distribution technique.

I tried this naming trick and it definetly gave me far higher reported FPS. Actually I made a copy of the pcars.exe and renamed it so I could easily flip between the two versions. In the current event 'Formula Rookie' at Bathurst my FPS went from 40-45 avg to 80-85 avg. This was reported same both on internal FPS counter (Ctrl-S) and FRAPS. I tried the same a couple of other cars and tracks and had the same general results, about 30-40 fps improvement.... However, I still find there is a distinct stuttering or micro-stepping in the game. Whether at 30 FPS or 90 FPS it almost seems like the actual updates to the car physics are happening at a very low rate, yet the reported graphics frame rates are ok or even very good. I was using the -ticktest option for both versions, this is supposed to bump the underlying physics rate up to 600 I think. If I have time tomorrow I will create a couple shortcuts without this option and test between four versions  definetly still alpha or beta software...  |

There is a bug with the latest patch 244. It locks up the game when you click start to run a session. It worked for me a couple times, then locked up. Tried uninstalling and reinstalling a couple times, but still locks up. They are aware of the issue and working to resolve it.
