Yup, sounds like my Cadillac Cup. You gotta watch out for the lappers because they are typically rookies who have nothing to lose. They will take you out. I generally just wait for them to screw up and then I pass. Sorry that he ruined your SR. That sucks. But, it is great to see you running the Cadillac Cup. Its the shit! The SR can be rebuilt but you hate to take any backward steps on it. I will say, racing guys like them is really good practice for seizing that "window" when it presents itself. Sometimes we take the folks that we race with at GBR a bit for granted because we expect that everybody races clean. It takes just a couple of races of getting taken out for dumb shit to make you REALLY appreciate the great people we have to race against here. Thanks in regards to running the Cadillac Cup, I absolutely love that car and enjoy running it as much as possible. Cheers!

I got a 2nd place in a race tonight ! Unfortunately there was only two of us in the race I jumped in a race the other night with about six others. They started asking if the race was official and most of them bailed. I was there only for SR so I stayed with one other. I followed him around, sometimes right on his ass and sure enough he made a mistake. The race counted as it began with over six cars because it showed up on my stats as a win. However, my SR went up very marginally with me having 2 dropped tires and my iR stayed flat.

Another thing...I've decided to stop chasing SR and licenses and actually participate in races. Starting in the pits and lapping is killing my iR AND my enjoyment. I've decided to focus on the SFR this season and not do much with other cars. After reading many threads on it, I figure the SR will take care of itself if I manage to avoid big mistakes. I don't need a higher license for the moment. If I get it, great. If not, I'll be fine since I am enjoying the SFR series. As long as I move to C by next season.

I find myself giving up places to avoid getting dive bombed. I see guys pullout in my mirrors and just let them by because I know there is no way they would make it stick through the corner. Then I spend the rest of the race on their ass because I am actually faster.
Good luck with the GT Cup. I ran a race in it at the end of last season and liked it.

I gain places often at iRacing doing the crossover... in fact at Okayama I've become adept at braking really late into T1, sucking the dive bomber into overshooting then cutting in behind him. It doesn't always work but when it does, it's beautiful.

Yup. I did that a couple of times at T1 at Okay short. It was quite satisfying watching them sail by. Last week's track was Jefferson Short and they pulled the move in the worst spots. Not enough of a braking zone to do the crossover. I just know if I kept my line I would have a dented door.

Ditto for me in regards to license chasing. I am going to enjoy the SFR and Caddy races and do some pick up races here and there. I will also do the Mustang races when they are at an actual road circuit.
I still pay attention to my SR but I am certainly goin to work harder at breaking from the pack as well as seizing the passing windows when they pop up.

I never start in the pits, unless I am late gridding. Rather, I focus on qualifying. Don't worry about getting a hot lap. You will almost always be ahead of at least half of the field, simply because many folks don't take the time to qualify. Also bear in mind that to qualify, you need only do one "clean" lap. Your out lap doesn't count, nor do you count dirty laps. Once you get the "clean" lap, you can exit the qualifying session, and even "withdraw" from it, without negating your lap. Once you complete the clean lap, you are good to go.

I had a terrible SRF race last night. I knew I wasn't going to compete and the fast guys had over a second on me, but it was terrible. Jumped the start, got a love tap in T1, then towards the end of lap 1 I got a little loose which slowed me down enough to get smashed by guy behind me. Couldn't keep it straight while heading to the pits and probably pissed off some guys. The part that pisses me off is that the guy was #2 in iR. He was clearly better than me but didn't bother to qualify so he was behind me with no patience.
Anyway... discouraging to say the least. Need to reset

I feel your pain Zed. I did a Class C Fixed truck race last night and got nailed by someone that was trying to pass me. He went three wide into a turn and then just came up into me and took me out. I took a .15 SR hit and lost 29 iRating points. Hmm....
