Hey guys, I want to clarify how the Turn 1 chicane exit should be taken. I'm seeing many of the laps showing up on LR as "not clean". I'm guessing many of you are cutting through this section. You will gain easily over a half second per lap by cutting this section. While it will be difficult to police it, I would recommend that if you do accidently cut through the curb exit of the chicane, you should give back any time you gained. The general rule of thumb in this series is that you need to keep at least 2 tires on the tarmac at all times. Please try to police yourselves on this during the race as I don't intend (or have time) to have debates afterward. Just be aware that if the Stewards do see that you gained an unfair advantage by doing this, you will be penalized. Here are examples. Proper exit of the Turn 1 chicaneImproper exit of the Turn 1 chicaneIf you are forced out there by someone due to side by side racing and have to take evasive action to avoid a wreck, that's a different story than cutting it blatantly. Just try to use your best judgement.

pit stop strategy question. My guess is that this will need to be a 2 stop race because of fuel. A full tank shows it holds 17 laps worth of fuel and a 1 stop with another full tank will only get you 34 laps. I was going to try and run a 39 lap race this weekend to see but life got in the way. Do you guys agree or do you think it is actually possible to do a 1 stop strategy?

Moreover, there is the fuel issue.

Tires are the major factor here. you could make it on one stop of fuel.i can get 16 lap on soft. maybe more if i baby it.but if you setup car up for controls, no worries.but we will see many different strategies to work from. kinda wish the fuel was x2 now too lol!!!!

Softs are significantly faster than hards, but will likely require 2 pit stops unless you are good at saving tires. Decisions decisions. Will the time you gain with softs justify 2 pits while others go with one? Will the tires last long enough? Will Jeff ever screw up so others have a chance? Tune in on Wednesday to find out. My format is clearly getting folks to have to think things through.

@ Seahawks 3 things : -I have this 2 files, the file in green circle I think is the GBR configuration. Do I need to remove the other file ? What kind of modification you did ? -I had no trouble in Yas Marina race (file above installed), so I am good to go for tonight race ? (didn't test the server yet). -For tonight race I challenge you, hope you have you camera on. Thank you.

You should be good to go Fahn. The config file is the same one we used at Yas Marina. I would suggest everyone try joining the practice server beforehand to make sure there are no conflicts. I'll turn on the race server as soon as I get home this evening.
I'll try to get my camera working for the race. Doubt I'll be much of a challenge to you, but I'll give it a go.

The start of the V8 Supercars season is upon us. I know many of you have been anticipating the start of season 6 (many impatiently), but it's finally here. We anticipate a very full grid (hoping for upwards of 28-30 drivers if everyone shows up). There will be many strategies in play for this race. As you know, tire wear is set at x2, so some may choose to go with softs and will likely have to pit twice, while others may go with inters. This race will be 39 laps with at least 1 mandatory, 4 tire change pit stop. Please try to race as clean as possible, especially the first few laps when we will be bunched up and tires will be very slippery. Remember, you can never win the race on the first lap. Please DO NOT cut the exit of the turn 1 chicane. See my post for specifics on that. gbr.proboards.com/thread/2164/adelaide-turn-chicane-proper-exitI would like everyone on the server by 7:00 pm PDT. We will not hold up the start due to technical issues, so if you haven't tried connecting to the server, you need to do that beforehand to make sure you have no issues. I have the race server online so you can jump in anytime to test it. Qualifying will start at 7:15 PM and will last 10 minutes. This will be a private qualifying session, which means you will have the track all to yourself. After that, there will be a 5 min warmup, which should put the start of the race around 7:30 or so. The Race Server is up and running and is called GBR - V8 Race. The password is our standard passsword. Please be sure you are on Teamspeak as well. During qualifying and the race, we ask that you all keep the chatter down and limit it to race communication only (ie. I'm on your right Dale). If you are being lapped, do not make any sudden moves, like braking suddenly on the racing line. It's usually safe to wait for a straight or move off of the racing line to allow the lapping driver by. We will have a quick driver's meeting before we start the race and answer any questions. Most of all, have fun and I look forward to seeing you all on track tonight! Good Luck.

Well, we shall see how this goes. I'm struggling in practice to stick with the frontrunners. This track (and the next event) does not favour me and I've never had good luck here so I'm here with the goal of finishing clean and collecting points this week then I should be back at the sharp end at Pukekohe. This season will be interesting. The longer races and 2x tire wear are requiring a lot more preparation.

Frontrunners? Man I'm not even thinking about being up with the frontrunners. I put in a ton of laps just to get a feel of the car. I know I'm leaving time all over the track so I'm not looking to do anything magical out there. The team manager gave me 3 goals and they happen to coincide with my own goals. I'm just hoping to:
A) Finish the race B) At least not be DEAD last C) Have at least one good lap that looks respectable in a replay
If I can accomplish those 3 then I'm good.

I'm going to try and be there for the race tonight. I said I would participate and still plan on it. I want to make sure I am doing what is necessary though. So I just show up on time and be ready to go right? I haven't changed my paint or anything but I think it's still in the group of paints everyone has. If not, let me know.

My goal this entire season is to finish in the top half of each event...and that's a stretch for me. Good luck everyone.
