Tasmania is going to be a points race for me.I'm getting slower as the race nears. the field is right where i think it should be.and the car is awesome in the pack. but i am not finding the right groove... so my goal is to make it on strategy ,gain as many points as possible. and leave Tasmania with the car in one piece lol!

I was watching Dale and Jason last night and I don't understand how they can brake so late and make the hairpin and turn 6. I also noticed in Tony's video how late he is braking. What the hell am I doing wrong? I brake going into the hairpin at the first of the 3 signs going into the hairpin, and the same thing into turn 6, you guys are all braking at the second sign. If I brake where you guys are braking I lock up my tires everytime. Any tips for a noob?

I've been struggling with my braking at the hairpin. Yesterday I raised my wing up and moved the brake bias toward the front a bit more and that seemed to help. I also pump the brake a bit as I'm downshifting. I typically brake much earlier than most, so I'm not the best example. The guy I can't believe can brake so late is Jeff. He's keeping his secrets to himself though. 51.0 on inters! That's just crazy!

I also raised my wing last night and noticed that helped on turn 6. I might mess with the brake bias a bit before the race, but my times put me mid pack and I feel good about that. My goal is to finish above 15 or better.

I'm right there with you. I got a pb last night in practice, then everyone else around me did the same, so looks like I'll be mid pack hoping for a top 10.

I brake right before the tire marks after the tires are up to temps. Before that I need to brake much earlier. The others are braking way later than me as well.
My goal is to make the race without wheel issues, then try to finish in one piece.

i Brake at the last light pole on the left at the hair pin. there's a patch in the road.that's where i hit 2nd and 1st. bam! bam! double shift.
brakes are going to be key here.... i see a lot of people over braking. and locking up tires. in race 2 tires are going fall off quick!!! so locking the tires. is going to be a no!no! brake a foot shorter and a blast of gas with each shift should help from locking up so bad.
i think the Next in the hunt video will be about modulating brakes and gas. being we have 2 more small tracks that are heavy braking lol!!!

you guys are all braking at the second sign. If I brake where you guys are braking I lock up my tires everytime. Any tips for a noob? I listen to the tires. I aim for just a little bit of brake lockup sound. Aside from that play with brake balance and depending how you're setup you might want to raise the ride height and/or stiffen the front springs. I think I was bottoming out braking for the hairpin before. With the adjustments above I found another 0.250 seconds. Turn 6... I don't think I take that corner the same way twice. I'm pretty well crossing my fingers everytime I enter it.

Event 2 tonight - Symmons Plains Our 2nd event tonight will be a 2 race format. Race 1 we will be using Intermediate tire and Race 2 we will be using the Softs. Here is the lap count for each race. Race 1: 23 laps Race 2: 35 laps (mandatory 4 tire change pit stop) Symmons Plains appears to be a short, simple track, but as many have quickly found out (including myself), it's very technical. The hairpin at the end of the front straight (Turn 4 I believe) will be tough, especially at the beginning when the cars are bunched up. Please be extra cautious early on as you will have cold tires and cars will need to brake much sooner than you may expect. There will be an accordian effect here, so please give each other room and leave some distance between you and the car in front of you. As the race progresses, the field will spread out a bit, but you will likely be in traffic all race long due to it's short length. Another point of clarification is the pit road exit. As you are exiting pit road, there are two places for re-entry onto the track itself. Please use the 2nd entry point only. By entering the track from the first one, there is a greater chance of an accident as cars come whipping around Turn 7 in 4th gear. Here is a photo showing which one to take. If you use the first exit, you will be accessed a penalty. The red X means DO NOT take that one. Qualifying will start at 7:15 pm PDT. I have loaded up the Race Server and it has a new, much faster hard drive that the one we tried to use last week. We should be good to go (knock on wood) on the server end as that was the only bottleneck on that system. Race Server Name: GBR - V8 Race Password is the standard one. Look forward to seeing everyone on track tonight.
