Hey guys, I want to upgrade to a triple screen set up. I have the following HDTVs and monitors currently on hand:
1) 32" Sony HDTV 1080p (current race TV, looks great) 2) 24" Dell Monitor 1080p (current computer monitor, looks great, very pricey when I bought in 2008) 3) 24" Vizio HDTV 720p
What do you guys think, can this work, using the 32" as the center, and the 24" monitor and HDTV on the two sides?
In the alternative, I can use the 24" monitor as the center, and the 24" HDTV as one of the sides and then I can buy a 24" monitor. I would prefer to avoid that, if possible, because of the cost and because I would be essentially wasting my 32" HDTV.
I have dual 560tis in SLI, and so I think I can handle the three TVs and monitors.
Thoughts?

As I said on TS: all three monitors must support and run the same resolution and colour depth for SLI multi-monitor (same refresh too I think). So for the gear you listed you'll need 720p on all monitors. Your cards will handle it easily. I run triples on 2 x GTX 275. Craig, there's a dedicated Nvidia multi-monitor thread on iRacing (Hardware forum)... it's what I used when setting up my system and it's got more info than I could ever type

I found that thread and will study it.

Thanks, it looks like Nvidia surround will do the work for me. I found that thread and will study it. That's how I run it. Ensure you enable Multiview in rFactor config and "render separately" in iRacing to avoid distortions in the side monitors. Fiddle with the FoV in iRacing (there are hotkeys for it) to dial in what you like. rFactor FoV is trickier but I can write a how-to if your Googling doesn't find the details. When you get the FoV right the effect is amazing...

LOL ;D I had this great idea to mount the side monitors on these cheap extending flat-panel mounts. And the center monitor is also mounted on a wobbly non-extending flat-panel mount. So I don't worry about the software distorting the side monitors too much, I am already do much worse physically than the game could ever do And if I ever seem to be weaving or unexplicably leaving the track it is probably because I am trying to physically recenter my monitors... They tend to start moving around when the racing gets intense

That's hilarious. If you ever want to rig up a more solid stand look on the Google for stuff callled 80/20. It's likw an erector set for real projects. Apparently you can pick it up cheap on eBay. I'm looking for some locally (cause I'm not shipping 100 lb of aluminum across the border!) and I'm going to combine that with a nice solid triple monitor stand ($300! but I did some work for a guy and he's paying me with one )

If I could find a distributor/reseller in Canada for the Playseat RBR 1 seat I would be extremely tempted to ditch my homemade fire hazard for this. Would still need a monitor solution but I am starting to think separating the seat assembly from the monitor(s) assembly may be a good idea It was trying to duplicate an F1 seating position that led me somewhat to my current precarious environment Best advice I ever got years ago, which I promptly and stupidly chose to ignore was regarding home renovations... "Find a good professional and hire them to do it". Unfortunately I seem to have replicated my past mistakes when it comes to setting up a racing seat sorry Craig I seem to be hijacking the purpose of your thread somewhat

No worries Sheldon. As soon as I get home this morning, I am going to embark on Operation Triple Screen.

Hey guys. Operation Triple Screen has begun. I have the monitors/TVs set up, and I can get triple screen to work in iRacing. In rFactor, however, even after I changed the resolution to 3072 X 768, which works fine in iRacing, and check the box for Multiview, I only get the cockpit view on my center monitor. Any thoughts as to what I am missing? I am using Nvidia Surround.

Make sure you're running the right rFconfig.exe. If you have multiple mods in separate rFactor installs then there's a different one in each folder.
I'm watching the V8 race right now but will check in periodically if you have more questions. If you get stuck we'll jump on TS.

Do I possibly need to edit all of them? Also, should I be able to see the triple screen from the garage? Right now, when I get to the garage screen, I do not see the triple screen, only the center, and so I then press escape. Also, my resolution is 3072 X 768, because of the 720p HDTV. Should I upgrade to a 1080p HDTV, so that I can run at the highest possible resolution?

I run SoftTh software so it's different from what you have, but I only have the single screen from the garage. Once I select race it goes to to triple screens.
As for the resolution that's up to you. If it works for the budget I would upgrade to the 1080p to get the most out of it.
Also, you should only need to edit the rfconfig file of the version you are using, not all of them.

What happens when you leave the garage screen and enter the session (i.e., drive the car)? rF doesn't switch to 3 screens until you're driving. All the game UI is single monitor. The startup looks like this (flickering is because of GID):
