Tony sent me a skin to figure out how to get it in the Sim I'm guessing.
Anyway, I put it in as a skin for one of the preexisting teams like we did with ORSM. And as far as I can tell, this will not work because I can't find any way to change skins in game. So if anyone knows how to do this, please speak up. If not, we will have to treat each skin as a team, this will work by the way, just a bit more work on the painters part as the skin has to have a .veh file with team info and it's own folder.
If the team folder is the way we have to go, we will need time to do paints and get them in game if we decide to run a series, Everyone will have to download the skin packs or they will not be able to run.
We do team folders at SPAZCAR, so I know very well how to do this if anyone needs help. But it would be much faster and less problems if we can figure out how to use just skins.

Do you have an account at Race Department, Dan? I can put you in contact with some very good skinners there, familiar with GSC paintings.

I think I have my answer. I asked over there, still waiting on an answer. But I found a whole list of cars to download (V8 Paints) so I downloaded a bunch of them, they all are set up as team folders with a .veh. I guess the UI in GSC is not set up to let you brows skins, so teams it is.

What a pain then... we will have mismatches (Cannot compete against unknown vehicle) if people don't have the up-to-date "skin" pack installed. Everyone has to have the .veh files.
What if you create a Skins folder in the team's folder and put the custom DDS there? That's how HistorX works.
Oh damn... if you can't browse then it doesn't really matter then, does it?

Hmm, this is true. The interface of GSC have this problem, we cant acess skins on the Menu for the same car.
Usually the Leagues creates their own skins under the existent series. So for the Super V8, for instance, can be created a GBR series with our skins.
Would be more or less like this:
Super V8
Plasto Racing Lopello Team GBR series -Dan Wheat -Jason Hawks

I tried to add a GBR folder then put a car in it, but it would not read the skin form there. But the car was in another folder, so that may be why. I'll check it out.

OK, if I add a GBR folder to the teams and toss everyone's files in there the cars will show up as a separate team in game, but they are all in one place, very messy, but good for those that may need to take them out to run another series. Or we can do it the clean way and everyone's skin gets it own team folder, but then you have to remove each one for another group or series. The messy way would be the best as it's all in one folder, but god help the guy who wants to find a certain skin and all it's parts after the folder is full. This also means you can only have two skins, they will have to have they're own veh files, but you can use the same team name and they will be together in game. Would be easier if everyone stuck to one skin, myself included.

One of the guys over at RaceDepartment told me Reiza is working on making the UI work with skins added to an original cars skin folder, but he's not sure it will be anytime soon. Just that he read it somewhere.

Sorry Dan to create a big mess for ya I didnt know there was so much involved? I'm new to painting R Factor style cars. And thought it would be a lot of fun. I have to say this I Racing is so much easier to paint psd to tga. put it in the game and that's it. maybe its because I'm new and haven't figured it out yet . But I will figure it out..

Not sure I understood the messy way...lol.
I expressed wrong what I know aswell, so Im sorry about that.
From my experience, the folder structure can work the following way.
Inside the Super V8 folder there is the SuperV8Teams folder. You dont mess with that. Create a GBR folder inside the Super V8 main folder (Vehicles), and inside this folder we can put our skins. But it have to be the way you said, Dan. Each skin must be a different "team", this way we can all see and choose properly.

But either way, all GBR series skins will be in one easy to move folder.

Bummer that a simple dds file no longer works. All you need to add is a .veh file Jason, It's really easy. And I've already figured out the way to name the extra window files if you want to do your windows in V8 fashion. Once everyone gets the skins done, we just drop all the .dds files and all the .veh files into one folder (GBR) and they show up in game as teams.

It's not a big mess really, it's basically the way we do SPAZCAR, except here you dump all files in one folder instead of each car having it's own.
