FYI, the A-Holes at Reiza decided to change one line in the .veh for the Super V8's, so it must be fixed in order for your car to show up in the V8 screen in game. Link to my edited .veh post>> gbr.proboards.com/post/61489

After Scott's post that they may not work with the new build, I stuck all the skins I have in there, and sure as shit, they didn't show up. But they still showed up in the all cars and tracks, so I knew it was a veh thing. Then I started looking and was like they're still the same, until I noticed one damn word was different. Why the hell would they do that and not mention it in the change log?
There must be hundreds of skins made for these, and none will work until you figure it out, that's just stupid of them.
But at least we don't have to repaint.

For those that haven't heard, Reiza just released a new update to Game Stock Car (aka Stock Car Extreme). It is version 1.50 and you will all need to update your game. You will have to delete your player profile and create one for the game to work.
***You MUST create a fresh player profile (delete the old one from \USERDATA) otherwise the game won´t launch.***
The server is now updated and back up and running. Please be sure to try joining the server well before race night so we don't have to delay the start. The final exhibition will be on November 11th.
The official season kicks off on December 2nd. If you plan on doing a custom paint for your car, they must be submitted to myself or Dan before November 25th (the day before Thanksgiving). The biggest reason for this is we will all have to install the custom paints or you will get a mismatch. Again, we will continue to use the default skins for the exhibition, but will release a "patch" right after Thanksgiving so everyone can install them and test the server. This will be the final reminder, so don't delay and don't forget.
Look forward to seeing everyone on track on November 11th for our final test before we begin season 10.

Why the hell would they do that and not mention it in the change log? They did mention it but the implications of the change weren't obvious.

For those painting your own car, this is the folder layout:
"GameData\Vehicles\SuperV8\GBRTeams\Your Folder\Your files"
Or you can just send the files as I have to get them in the pack anyway.

I am almost done with my skin, just need to get the windows done. I am having a terrible time getting them right. I have added my name and number to the windows as a separate layer but creating the dds file is giving me fits. Either the letters and numbers on the windows are 99% clear or the windows are solid and not transparent. Any tips on how to get the windows working correctly.
I read over fourteenbones tutorial but the part about doing the windows is confusing as hell.

It's all done with the Alpha layer JImmy. Once you get all your stuff on the window (Name, number, banners etc.) use the magic wand tool (Has to be done on each layer) to get the outline of them, while this is running you will see the dotted line around them, go to channels, highlight the alpha which should be a more or less solid grey, while on the alpha you will still see the highlighted parts from the wand tool, use white and the paint bucket and fill in the highlighted areas. If you are doing the holes in the windows use black and the paint bucket to fill in the highlights of the holes on the alpha. White = solid Black =invisible This may or may not translate to Gimp, I have no idea what the tools are called in that program. TIP: the only thing that should be highlighted when using the wand tool is the area you want to work with, and you have to have the layer of the item you are trying to highlight active or it will highlight all of the area behind it. In PhotoShop you have to hold shift while doing multiple items with the wand tool, such as each letter in your name that is on the same layer. EDIT: Once you have done the window banners in this way, anything you put on the banner should show up with out doing the wand tool as they are already on solid window. These are the settings I use to save to dds, same file size as the in game cars. Also, if you try to put anything on your windows that has multiple colors like a picture or decal, the wand tool will not highlight it correctly. So create a duplicate, do a color overlay to make it look solid, convert to smart object and rasterize, this will make it solid and you can highlight it with the wand tool and do what needs to be done on the alpha, once done, delete the duplicate that is solid and the pic or logo will show on the window.

Thanks again Dan. I was able to get it to work in GIMP a little differently. I had my layer with my name, number and banner. I then right clicked that layer and chose Alpha to Selection. This did the magic wand thing but for the entire layer, instead of picking each piece individually. I then went to the Channel Tab, chose the Alpha and Filled with White. I then merged my layer with the numbers, name and banner down to the layer with the window shapes. I left the UV and background layers unchecked and exported it to the dds file. And that did the trick. I will post pics in the other thread.

I never have to merge my layers with PhotoShop, I just create the .dds off of what's showing, but that is mainly so I can go edit any little part I choose later. That Gimp thing seems like it might have some useful short cuts, one of these days I'll have to check it out.

Here is a tip for wheel rim color. In the .veh file there is the line GenString=BLK // SLV - silver, BLK - black, GLD - gold, RED - red Simply change GenString to the 3 letter code for the color and save.
I found this out because the .veh file I grabbed was using red wheels and the red clashed with my original color scheme. So I knew there must be a way to change the wheel color and that is what I found.
