That's awesome Craig. They definitely picked the wrong guy to try going all "legalese" on. Oops.

It was good fun. I also took one of the dumbshits to task via PM for his RTFM reference to my posts.

LOL, that is hilarious totalo. I find it to be so funny that several serious sim racers, in particular the dudes on Project CARS, can really believe I am a freeloader, even though I paid $40-$50 for Project CARS 2 1/2 years ago, have tested its builds dozens if not hundreds of times over 2 1/2 years, yet because I say I am done and am only interested in finished or near finished content, they accuse me of failing to adhere to the terms of my contract with SMS.

I barely even post there and barely even launch it as much as the first few months. They could be calling me all kinds of names and I wouldn't know. lol Hell, the only reason I got the thing in the first place is because one of the devs/admins were on the racedepartement site going at it with a couple of forum members and offered 10 free memberships to the next 10 guys who posted they wanted in so they could judge for themselves. So I said put me down.

The thing that stuck out at me the most was the part about getting paid. I don't recall anything about anyone getting some bucks for this. I just thought you get the game discounted/free.

The thing that stuck out at me the most was the part about getting paid. I don't recall anything about anyone getting some bucks for this. I just thought you get the game discounted/free. Yeah, SMS got in legal hot water because they initially did market this as essentially an investment opportunity. The concept was, and remains to this day, that you pay a certain amount of money (in my case it was $32.95 USD), depending on how involved you want to be in the development, and that you in exchange get to play and comment on the builds, you get a license for the final version of the game and you get to share in the profits for the game. I could care less about getting a share of the profits, but some higher tier members paid thousands of dollars to buy in and apparently some of them complained to the government in the UK, where SMS is located. There was an investigation and the outcome of it was that SMS had to offer everyone refunds, if they wanted them. I did not ask for a refund, in part because I never expected anything more than I got. My suspicion is that a lot of these f#$#ing morons paid thousands to get in, and have contributed hundreds if not thousands of hours to help develop the game and so they are very touchy about so-called "freeloaders" like me that just want to play and enjoy the game. That is why I believe they were taking the position that I should not be paid.

Ahhh I see. I thought that whole thing was about the way they raised the money sans investment/share part and for some reason it was illegal in the UK. I didn't really go deep, thought it was kinda odd that they were getting heat for it when so many others are doing the same thing. Didn't even realize cash back was in play.
In that case I want my $$$ for my free investment. Get back to work YOU FREELOADER*

I wasn't gonna get involved with this but I did find it humorous someone try pulling legal tech on a lawyer As like every forum there's always it's fan boys and idiots. I think tho personally there was a little miss doing from both sides and I feel if the thread title was simply named differently without the" don't want to test " and named it which content is near complete you would have gotten answers like for the most part you got till the legal idiot jumped in. Simply because the game is not complete and just because they hope to launch for Nov they have always said it won't till the majority agree....remember assetto corsa coming spring 2012...yeah You can also check on the forum under vehicles and it will tell you what stage each car is at and what there currently working on. As for the revenues I am not trying to be a dick but it looks like most of you didn't do your research on its possibilities as there is the possibility of a good return on the game If you simply judged the the games popularity on a hard core sim you won't believe it will succeed, but it was never meant to be that as it was to compete with forza and gt on the consoles as that's where the cash is at not pc Sims The quota was 1 million copies sold across 4 platforms which is completely rrealistic than you would get a portion of the profits. Now consider both forza and gt have sold 20+ million copies 1 million is pretty damn reachable if you ask me Here's what the potential revenue could be worth wmdportal.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/10/WMD_Announcement_Press_Release_1011.pdfProfits are based on a quarterly basis for the first 2 yrs than twice a yr for as long as funds are coming in. Do the math based on your tier and you'll realize the potential, hence why I support it and post social media links. I don't care if it's not as simulated as rf2 or iracing I just wanted sim features and a product to make forza and gt say " oh shit we better pick up our game and listen to our fans" As far as I am aware I don't now any game that gives you possibility of making money for the cost of a game! I know they say it's not an investment but if you read between the lines it is Not to mention the conversion profit from euros to cdn which is almost an extra 35-50c on the dollar I also contacted Andy in regards to involvent part as well as something I have planned for the release launch for community members and if he replies saying there xx amount of insolvent needed that I don't meet than I'll pull 5 of my senior packages. With 2 kids since the project launched I run it bi daily and always do a Fri feedback in the builds and car physic feedback forums so will see what he says
