Yea I think the stock setup has the soft tires. I just can't get back to the throttle until I'm basically out of the corner and wheel is straight. These are not the easiest cars to drive especially when racing. As Joe said they are big, heavy, rear wheel drive with lots of power. You are also correct about not being able to get on the throttle until you are out of the corner and straight. You can feather the throttle through the corner but you can't put the pedal to the floor until you are straight, otherwise you will just light up the rear tires and go for a spin. Here is a video of a guy that raced with GBR for a long time and he has a camera pointing at his pedals. Ignore the fact that he is using his clutch and heel/toe to downshift, some V8 supercar drivers use a clutch and some don't, even in the real reals. Just pay attention to what his right foot is doing when entering and exiting the corners. You will see he does not put the pedal all the way down when exiting a corner until he is straight. This video is a great example because of all the 90 degree corners. Keep an eye on liveracers and if you see anybody on there try and hop on and they can give you some tips and share their setup with you.

This may be a dumb question, but is the car he's driving the official V8 supercar or the mod version that was out before the official one? And then which one do we use in the league?

That is an old video and he is running the original rfactor.
We run the official V8 cars that are the original content that comes with AMS.

So I see that the Super V8 season is almost over. Any idea what the next season will be? These cars are awesome but I'm seeing people talk about low turn out with them.

I'll try it all tomorrow, as the baseline setup seems really oversteer happy to me. It is... because V8 Supercar. Try getting a little heat into the tires. For me, this car feels like crap for the first two laps. I can't put my quickest laps until 3 or 4. Default set isn't too bad here. I tried it just now and am only 0.3 sec off my PB on my own setup. In fact, it handles corner entry better than my tune.

I have a buddy that I convinced to buy Automobilista during the steam summer sale. I'm not sure how old he is (I know him through iRacing) and he has only been sim racing for about 6 months, but is extremely talented and extremely clean (he consistently helps me go faster and has been doing it less than half the time I have). How should I have him go about joining the V8 super car league

If you're unsure about recommending him then you can PM me his iRacing name and I'll take a quick look at his profile and race history there.

Would anyone be willing to post their lap times for Okayama? I know I'm going to be a back marker, I just want to see how far off I am.

Live stats including fastest lap for each driver on this car/track combo: gonebrokeracing.liveracers.com/Live?server=GBRV8%20SupercarsClick on a fast lap time line and you'll get the sector times if you want more detail.

Thank you! Are those stats from people running laps on the server?

Thank you! Are those stats from people running laps on the server? Yes, LiveRacers is showing best lap times from GBR members who have connected to the server and completed laps. With the times posted currently I would expect the times to drop a bit more on race night around 1:31. Make sure you install the skin pack before race night otherwise you will get a mismatch and not be able to race. Also make sure you can connect to the server before race night too. If you have any questions let us know. Jimmy

Yea I have the skin pack. I'm assuming if I haven't given you guys a skin for me to run I need to just pick one of the ones from the base game?
And I connected to the server briefly but it put me into a race by myself. Is this what is supposed to happen, or is it supposed to be a practice session?

You can just choose a default skin for the race. The server is setup for "race weekend" which means it will roll to each stage of the weekend. It will run practice, quali, warmup and then a race. Dale looked into this and users should now be able to go into the chat section and click vote and then vote to restart weekend.
The practice session usually runs for 165 minutes. This is just kind of how AMS works so if you connect and it's not a practice session try and vote to restart weekend.

If anyone enters the server it initiates the practice-warmup-quali-warmup-race cycle then it goes to sleep after the race. With rFactor and rFactor2, the server is configured to reset and go to sleep when no one is in a session. The same configuration in AMS causes it to not announce to the Multiplayer list and no one can join via there.
