Spa Francorchamps - 1988 F1 version



DATE:
The scheduled date conflicts with Father's Day. The event is being rescheduled to June 10. If that's a problem for you let us know ASAP.

TIME:
0830 PDT

TRACK:
You need the 1988 "Carrera4" version of this track. If you have it you'll have the following folder structure already

\Locations\F1_1988_C4\11_SpaFrancorchamps

There is a manditory patch because of track lighting issues. Get it at the link below and simply unpack the 6 files into 11_SpaFrancorchamps

After we run the TCM race you should delete those files because you'll then mismatch with any other league that doesn't use the patch.

RACE LENGTH:
90 minutes timed event

QUALIFICATION:
By Live Racers times at 0001, June 10

RACE CONDITIONS:
Start in dark (approx 0100) finish in light (approx 0700). 4x time scale. Subject to minor change depending on testing. This track has no lighting so if you crash and destroy your front end you are screwed. Be careful at least until the sun comes up.

SAND:
I've tested most of the sand traps and they are escapable. Please report any issues to me before race day.

LAPS:
Laps here similar in length to Bathurst so you're looking 35-ish laps.

FUEL:
TBA but probably 2x

TIRES:
TBA but probably track default

Will you post if this will be a dusk/night race? I should have practiced race 1 at night. Not sure if I am nuts but the track felt way more slippery in the evening race.

Like my OP says, I'm currently testing versions so things can change at any time over the newt few days. I'll post a link to the chosen version later in the week. If you're impatient the current test version on the server is 1988 Spa.

The most likely scenario for Spa is night start, morning finish. That said, there may be lighting issues with Spa and I haven't tested those yet. I have driven a lot here in other mods and the track is good (except for a small hole if you drive straight off at T1) and the sand traps are escapable.

Hm. I have no problems with that day... haven't spoken to my stepfather in 21 years . We can reschedule to the 2nd Sunday if people want that.

I like the version of Spa that is up atm, nice clean track. What do you set the time scale at F1? And what is the race start time you are thinking of using?

I would like to see how going from dark to day will feel on this track.

The Spa that's up now is, I think the version we ran here in Season 2 of V8s (one of my few victories in the series!) as a semi-enduro. We know there are no glitches in the track and sand so it'll probably be my choice after testing the pits and lighting.

Time scale will be the same as Bathurst (2x). Start time I haven't determined yet because I have to determine that by trial-and-error. It'll be something like 0530 - 0730 depending on when sunrise is.

I will be going out of town and spending Father's Day with my kids, so if we could schedule to any other Sunday, then I can race. If not, I will have to miss it.

Started a single player race at 03:30. Still very bright out. and sections of the track light up while others are dark. Not! light up as in lights, the track kinda glows. May be best to do a day race here. Great track though.

If you have 1990 Spa on your system can you let me know how that behaves? I believe it's the same track model as 1988 with some signage updates but perhaps the lighting is better.

You guys already moved the start time for me so I won't ask the day be moved. If I wind up having plans that day I can miss it.
