I have to admit I don't feel the need at the moment, I am running Pcars and rF2 at full eye candy and decent framerates and in rF2 the worst performer the green bar never drops below 2/3 full...maybe of course my MB is what is helping there. I fully expect rf2 to get better still when they optimise it...Sometime in the distant future...when I'm old and grey...well...older...and greyer.

Okay...so only one x16 PCI (PCIEX16) slot and if you put in a second card the one x16 (PCIEX16) drops to a x8 if I read the specs right...what the hell that means in the real world I have no idea LOL

I am fairly sure in sli mode only the memory of one of the cards is used and it is only the workload that gets shared, I'm sure F1 will drop by with a more detailed explanation (what would we do without him) You don't get double the RAM in SLI but... the RAM on both cards is used. I'm oversimplifying but in SLI each card takes turns rendering frames and then sending them to the monitor. Card 1: Frame 1 Card 2: Frame 2 Card 1: Frame 3 Card 2: Frame 4 and so on. I *think* when the 2nd card's memory isn't used is only if you're using SoftTH (a software method for multi monitors with mismatched cards)... the secondary card is just along for the ride.

so on pCars for example it would use 'over' 2gb say eg 1.5g one card & 1.5g other card? or this just not gonna happen. as with my single with everything maxed & 20 cars its suckin say 2038MB runs smooth at say 40fps
edit i use the nVidia surround

If you use 1.5 GB with a single card then you should find that you're using 1.5 GB on each SLIed card (as long as you don't change resolution or any gfx settings) Think of it this way. Each card is doing the exact same job just one frame apart. SLI assigns the work between cards in different timeslices and given how fast frames are being rendered the memory contents of each card will be nearly identical. Put another way, if you're getting 60 fps on screen, each card is rendering frames separately at 30 fps but one of the cards is one frame ahead of the other.

For rF2 if you hit ctrl/f/f you see a green bar, that shows graphics card mem use, the longer that bar is the better.
