LOL. The guy who wrote Minecraft was on the Craig Ferguson show the other night and they were talking about people get all emotional about the games they play when someone says something contrary to their opinion.

Reading the responses on virtualr net as an outsider is pretty amusing.....rf2 fans give it a meh....Ac fans think it's the greatest thing since slice bread . Than there's the comments that just make me shake my head? " I'll admit the ffb just feels like a heavy spring, the the physics are great and feel realistic" How can you make that judgement when all you can feel is heavy resistance ? " best $35 I've spent, I can't even buy this much content in RRE" Hmmm you get 12 cars and 8 tracks with close to 20 configurations for free....might wanna try basic math again The best one tho is the response to a video "The physics look spot on cause the movement of the car looks realistic in the replay" It's amazing how everyone has there favorite sim they stand by, but yet we must be searching and hoping for something more or we wouldn't run out to buy everyone on release day and if you feel it's not the best we gotta head to the forums to state our opinions. People need to accept each for what there for as there all different and target different audiences

Spent another half hour or so running the BMW GT3 around Silverstone International. The car grips more than I imagine it should, especially after a few laps. I do like how the suspension rolls if you start to lose control. If you over-correct, I get a good sense of the weight shifting as you try to save it.
FFB is not great. I turned it up to 100% on my wheel and felt a little better, but I just don't feel the road much. I do like the feel when you lock up the tires. The chattering translates through the wheel. The lower powered cars seem to have more "feel" than the ones with more hp.
Sounds are good. I really like the sound effect when you go off in the gravel. You can hear the rocks bouncing off the underside of the car, even after you get back on track for a bit.

I downloaded this tonight and spent about an hour playing around with it. The graphics are superb, probably even better than Project CARs. I had to reduce some settings to get it to run well. I also enabled vertical sync in game and turned off AA and AF in the Nvidia driver in order to smooth things out. The car selection is fine, as is the track selection, particularly because we know more is coming. The FFB and physics are great. I would like to feel more when I go over the curbs, but the weight transfer effects and sheer force of the FFB are amazing.
I have no complaints about this sim. I look forward to the updates.

Ok, I stand corrected on a couple things I mentioned on Friday.
1. User Interface (HUD) I did not realize there were so many options for this. The game comes default with a very basic HUD. What I found is if you drag your mouse all the way to the right, several icons appear. You can go in and select as many as you like and can drag them to any part of your screen (very similar to GID, just much more user friendly).
2. Triple Screen In that interface I mentioned above, there is a triple screen icon. You can go in and adjust your FOV, the angle of your monitors, and the bezel correction. The coolest thing of all is it's real time. You can jump in your car and can adjust any of this on the fly.

That is promising to hear. Not pulling the pin on it until there is more content and MP though. As much as I love BMW's, a little bit more selection in the car department and more importantly the track department is needed imho.
Cheers!

I look forward to the final product and what it brings! I was browsing there site and they had listed the content for the final release, after taking a closer look i wasnt really blown away 8 tracks with a few having alternate layouts and some random city driving, car wise and there is alot but 90% are road/track day cars 9% is classic lotus with 6 modern gt class cars spread over 3 classes. Have they said anything about being able to upgrade the track cars like in forza/pcars ? If not it seems there wont be much variety to choose from unless you like stock factory racing but i guess time will tell.

OK, I do have one minor complaint. I have my H shifter (THR8S) enabled in the game. I also have the clutch pedal mapped. When I first tried the Lotus 49 and the Abarth, I was grinding the gears on most downshifts and some upshifts, even though I was clearly engaging the clutch. I then switched to auto clutch AND auto throttle blip, but I am still having the same problem on most downshifts and even the occasional upshift. It is worse than GT5. Any suggestions or thoughts? I am not having any trouble with paddle shifting.

I just use the sequential, so can't help ya there Craig. Have you checked the telemetry to confirm your clutch is engaging fully?

I will try doing the config process again. I would think that the clutch engaging is irrelevant if I have auto clutch engaged, like in rFactor and iRacing.

Good point on the auto clutch. You shouldn't need to use it at if it's turned on. May be a bug in the game.

Good point on the auto clutch. You shouldn't need to use it at if it's turned on. May be a bug in the game. I found a thread in the AC support forum regarding other folks experiencing the same problem. The issue seems to be that the auto clutch is not working with H shifter cars, where the H shifter is actually being used. I posted my experience as well and so hopefully they sort it out. It is the only blemish on what has otherwise been very good fun.

It's definitely a good start. I'm sure we will see many improvements as the development continues. It's beta still, so completely understand guys holding off on buying it until it gets further along.

I played with this last night and I noticed that when I pressed my clutch, the white bar was stuttering a little bit. I re-calibrated the pedals and tried another race with a couple of H shifter cars, including the Abarth and the Lotus 49. With auto-blip only, no auto clutch, I had no missed shifts, down or up. When I also turned on auto clutch, it went back to grinding on downshifts and on some upshifts. This leads me to believe that auto clutch with H shifter cars is not working.

I picked this up today and ran it for a bit this morning so I thought I would give my first impressions after about an hrs worth of running the bmw gt at silverstone. It took me about 1/2 lap to realize what all the hype was about.....Set to pro driving looked good, ran smooth, sound meh, ffb was good very springy and tense tho imo than it clicked after the 3rd turn when i full throttled out of it without any rear instability happening......this is the advanced Forza/GT for pcs! Which is not a bad thing as i actually prefered those games due to more content, but since console racers out number sim racers 1 000 000 to 1 i can see why so many enjoy it. It just has that comfortable console feel to it you can jump into a car and get it around the track fairly easy, unlike some of the hard core sims where its like you just got a sudden case of Amnesia and your trying to learn how to ride a bike again. I am a firm believer that the hardcore sims need more grip and that anyone with basic driving skills should be able to make it out of the pits without any incidents, how ever i find this game too have alot more grip than even pars and RRE which the hardcores label as simcades. Am I saying its wrong? nope and how can i be a judge of whats realistic or not seeing i have no rl racing experience just like the 98% of other gamers playing this this All that said, i quit enjoyed it and look forward to more development and mods to be released from what I read online there was a video with ai that should be making its way in to the game over the next few weeks. Go figure an 1hr after i bought it for $40 it goes on sale for $29.99 fml 48hr sale!!! store.steampowered.com/app/244210/
